This one seems to have slipped under the radar but JB confirmed in his pre match presser on Saturday, that JM was now out for a number of weeks with knee ligament damage after being kicked in the pizza trophy match. JB confirming he was fortunate it wasn't far worse.
Hopefully Coburn now stays fit whilst JM's out injured.

Unlucky for John particularly after his goal at Exeter... lucky for us Coburn has arrived in the nick of time.

That’s what happens when you play against uncouth youths.

With a bit of luck the young Palace lads can do a bit of damage to two or three Argyle players next Tuesday before the Pilgrims visit to the Mem the following Saturday.

I heard Joey say John had picked up and injury; I did not hear anything about John being out for weeks; it's all a bit weird, Connolly was supposed to be out for months, and low and behold he is back on the grass training, halleluiah

"We’ve got a bit of medical scans and stuff to do, so he’s going to miss a prolonged period. It’s going to be at least a month, if not a couple of months." Although it's a quick recovery for a spinal fracture, even if it was only a stress fracture.

Marquis out is no big loss, even if Coburn wasnt here Given that so many strikers have taken time to bed in at the gas, I’d say he’s doing alright. 2 Two goals and two assists in 11 league games and I’m sure there’s better to come. I don’t know why exactly but a lot of the older players we recruit under the current manager seem to take ages to get properly up to speed. I’m thinking Coutts and Rossiter too.

Which Joe said it would be at least 2 months. Hopefully he’ll be back soon weve really missed him and also Nick A too.

Marquis has probably gone from 1st/2nd choice striker to 4th choice.

With a bit of luck the young Palace lads can do a bit of damage to two or three Argyle players next Tuesday before the Pilgrims visit to the Mem the following Saturday. Plymouth have 5 points. Rovers have 4 points. Palace "fierce tacklers" have 3 points. Swindon have NIL points. So if Palace win they will qualify for the knock out stage. Every incentive for the Palace players to give the Argyle squad some warm welcomes. Three or four of the Palace players will hope they have a forgiving and understanding referee if they play as they did at The Mem.

Rossiter is only 25 and whilst he didn't hit the ground running his, needless?, sending off didn't help matters. I just fear Marquis has lost his way a bit in the last couple of seasons.

Yes, Rossiter is youngish but has had a lot of injuries so understandable it might take longer to get fully fit. I never thought we were signing a 20 goal striker in Marquis. I think those days may have gone for him but I also think his experience and know how will be important to us at times this season. I hope so anyway as I expect he’s on a good wage!

Marquis has probably gone from 1st/2nd choice striker to 4th choice. Disagree with you there. Still think him and Collins are the main pairing.

Sam Frost has now finally published an article regarding JM's injury: www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-striker-set-miss-7686074Reading that article suggests JB was content for JM to start on the bench, the injury couldn't have come at a worse time for JM if Coburn continues to score goals, he's probably wonding what's happened to his luck, after he couldn't stop scoring goals for Donny & Pompey.

Marquis is a very clever player, his movement off the ball is very good. Unfortunately we haven't exploited this enough so far, for me he's a starter with Collins and either Loft or Coburn. It's always good to have different types of strikers/options.

The silver lining to the injury is that Coburn will likely start for the next few weeks, which will only enhance our reputation for developing and using young players and that may be to our benefit in the loan market come January and next summer.
