The current badge is garbage? Seriously? And it's called having a history, a history a lot of us enjoy and are proud of. OK Nige, I’m sure the British will rule the waves once more. This badge dated to the 90s. It’s about as historical as a shell suit. You think my point is akin to ruling the waves again? Ah well.

Don't know why we're so obsessed with pirates. It's not as if anyone ever calls us that or our fans ever use the word. My grandad did but he's long gone. Gas or Rovers are all I ever hear, and the quarters are sort of the essence of what we are. Gas, Bristol Rovers, quarters and maybe 1883. That's it. It may not be mentioned much nowadays but I’d hate it if we changed it because it’s been part and parcel of the club since before my time. I remember the silk scarves, that many wore around their wrists, at that time and we would have either the clubs name or manager on one side and the pirates on the other. Personally i think it’s in the very fabric of our club and it’s just as important as our anthem, to me anyway. It’s something i was always able to use when comparing USP’s with the 82. Ask them, they would love to have a choice, as we do. I think it’s important to observe tradition and especially when pirates have always been seen as cool, to youngsters, plus pirates have always had an air of mystery to them. If we are looking to appeal to the younger fans then i think it’s vital to keep the pirate. We always had offers to buy the coach flag, when we still had the coaches that ran from the royal archer pub and especially from any London clubs. Each t their own thoiugh

Hate it Liverpoolesque for what reason ? I wasn't being serious with the design. 😆 I was going to write that it was humour but thought that it was obvious. Seems not 😂

The pirate must stay. There is a clue in the clubs nickname, "The Pirates". It is not "The Skull and cross bones" But it's all over as the club is already using SCB on the majority of its merchandise and are not listening. I wonder if Wael is fully aware, as he comes across to me as someone who recognises fans and clubs history. Quaters going next as shirts costs more to make? Quarters gone from the back of the shirt already. Give it a few Seasons and there will be nothing unique or special about this club at all. Whilst agreeing with you, i can also see the problems we have had in getting shirts ready to buy. Given how we run at a continual loss and playing devils advocate, i can understand why, IF we ever did move away from quarters. I do wonder if supply has been a problem because we changed to a much more popular supplier of kits ? When i first started watching Rovers, we played in solid Blue with white trim, shorts and socks. Not the most imaginative but it was the kit we played in and won the Watney cup. I’d love us to have that option but as an away shirt.

I hope to god the club just change it. The current badge is a piece of garbage. I’m sure you didn’t like phone boxes going, or the end of places accepting cheques, or marathon become snickers, but they changed and your old, outdated ideas will be superseded by excellent, rocking skull and crossbones designs. On the other hand, there is a campaign group to stop the badge changing. Only accessible by phone box, and membership is by cheque or postal order. The current badge is garbage? Seriously? And it's called having a history, a history a lot of us enjoy and are proud of. Totally agree and won a few prizes too. The kind of thing that the 82 can only dream of having

I emailed my mockups to Tom Gorringe, got a courteous response within a day that it will be passed onto the team and they will reach out if they needed anything else. Of course they won't need anything else, they're already covered for graphic designers so I don't think they're waiting for a fan to come through and save the day. I at least hoped that they take on board some of the elements though, the need for blue and white quarters on the badge, the inclusion of a pirate instead of just skull and crossbones. Here are mine if anyone's interested: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Lf1x9Bzccek14LiND71aGjXh4uXNKTTf?usp=share_linkPersonally, I like bringing in the black and yellow like the one on my profile pic but I don't think the club will ever go for that as it ties us to black/yellow away colours. I am endorsing option 3 too. I don’t know if you drive a BMW, but it looks like a subliminal reference to their badge with the darker outer ring and blue top left. Preparing the ground for future sponsorship; like it! It also has slight echoes of the St. Pauli rebrand where they have retained the core image but simplified it and framed it within a reinforced circular border. www.behance.net/gallery/92675993/St-Pauli-Rebrand-ConceptJust one more general observation is that some people don’t seem to be making the connection between our club name “Rovers” and the nickname “Pirates”, in that a rover is an alternative, albeit antiquated, name for a pirate derived from the old Dutch verb “roven”, to rob. Peter Lovett made it very clear that he wanted nothing to do with it. He is not a man to mince his words, that is if you can get him to talk to you. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours with him at a RS night or Renn Sport Porsche evening. I think that IF we wanted to get some kind of deal from BMW then it would have to be at the companies top table and not the distributors and I’d imagine a marque such as theirs would have been a target for some top clubs

Neither do I but i am just repeating what has been said to me, previously and going by how long it has taken to get our own shirts, ready to sell. Having said that, we have always had the small an independent chancers who have managed to get things knocked up. You don’t have to look that far back either as we had nothing available to buy when we played Grimsby, in the play off final yet there were plenty of independent sellers, who had plenty of merchandise to chose from

To be fair, I don't suppose you have 8,000 people paying to visit your house each week.

www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-abort-process-update-7833830At least they won't be forcing that skull mockup on us! I was open to switching the logo if the design was right, but any vote should have included the option to keep the current badge to keep it fair. I think our badge is unique and am glad we're keeping it, but I would have been open to switch to a cleaner font and a more aggressive pirate without changing the overall concept.
