JB's now signed 3 left backs this season, Gibbons, Gordon g McD, if we're still weak thrn that's down to him? Gibbons is a right back. Thought he could play on either side of the defence? Still signed at least two regardless.

So since the summer window closed we have added. A goalkeeper A central defender. A left back A defender who can also play midfield. A central midfielder. A wide attacker (sinclair) Plus possibly one or two free agents over the coming month. This is basically covering where most fans declared we needed more competition. Time will tell how well they play this season. We certainly need to bring in permanent quality players in the summer. They all seem a bit inexperienced/underwhelming but I guess Taylor and Anderson did as well. We still desperately need a DCM before Saturday's game.

So has this gem from Stockports reserves played as a LWB ot are we reverting to a back 4 ? Or was he the only one available at the last minute after we’d let another perfectly average left back leave ?
Maybe he’ll be another Anderson 🤣
Looks to me we have just had to concentrate on hopefully staying up and no eye on next season at all.
17th or 18th will be our aim.

Unfortunately how I see it Percy The signings look like desperate measures made very last minute Our defence is littered with not only inexperienced youngsters but players that won’t be here after this season Just need to hope somehow JB finds a system that works for us as we need stability in that back line Biggest concern for me is midfield We look hopeless through the middle and with Rossiter out I feel we needed another one maybe 2 in there Total rebuild again in the summer Fingers crossed we get to 52 points asap Talk of championship and building a stronger squad now seems very far fetched UTG

Bristol Rovers have signed defenders Lamare Bogarde from Aston Villa and Calum Macdonald from Stockport on loan.
Bogarde, 19, joined Villa in 2020 and made his professional debut during their FA Cup campaign that season.
The Dutch youth international, who came through Feyenoord's academy, has spent most of his career at Villa Park playing for their under-18s side.
Calum Macdonald joins Rovers from League Two Stockport County.
The 25-year-old left-back started his career with Derby County and has experience in League One and the National League following stints with Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers and Barrow before joining Stockport on a short deal last Autumn. Ps Matty Taylor rejoins DC at Port Vale from Oxford on loan.

New signings LAMARE TRENTON CHASNEY BOGARDE
b 5.1.2004 Rotterdam, Netherlands
6’; 11 st 12 lbs CD
Career: Feyenoord; 28.9.20 Aston Villa (professional, 12.1.21); 31.1.23 Bristol Rovers (loan).
Of Surinamese descent, Lamare Bogarde followed his elder brother, Hoffenheim’s Melayro Bogarde and their uncle Winston Bogarde, a former Chelsea defender with twenty caps for the Netherlands, into professional football. Signed from Feyenoord, he had won three caps for his country at Under-15 level, followed by two each for the Under-16 and Under-18 sides, and helped Villa secure the 2021 FA Youth Cup, defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the final. Overall, he played six times for Villa’s Under-18 side, scoring in the autumn of 2020 against both Reading and Spurs, and 26(+1) times at Under-21 level, with a goal coming in December 2022 against Blackburn Rovers. Bogarde had played for Villa in the FA Cup against Liverpool in January 2022 and on the club’s summer 2022 tour to Australia, during which they lifted the Queensland Champions Cup, but his arrival at The Mem enabled a breakthrough into League football.
CALUM ROSS MacDONALD
b 18.12.1997 Nottingham
5’ 11”; 11 st 12 lbs FB
Career: Arnold Town; Derby County (professional, 1.8.16); 1.12.17 Barrow (loan); 27.8.19 Blackpool (free) [9+3,0]; 19.8.20 Tranmere Rovers (loan); 1.2.21 Tranmere Rovers (free) [71+2,2]; 8.10.22 Stockport County (free) [6+4,0]; 31.1.23 Bristol Rovers (loan).
Scottish Under-21 international left-back Calum MacDonald joined Rovers late on the evening of Transfer Deadline Day in January 2023. Coming through the ranks at Derby County, he had played in a Football League Trophy game at Port Vale in August 2016 and, in playing 21 times that season, was voted their Under-23 Player of the Year for 2016-17. This form earned two caps for the Scottish Under-21 side, the first coming in a 2-0 defeat in Macedonia. However, the closest he got to a Football League game at Derby was eight appearances on the bench in 2018-19 and instead he played on loan at Barrow, scoring a last-minute equaliser at Wrexham on New Year’s Day 2018, his only goal in 21 National League matches. “A forward-thinking left-back”, according to Tranmere Rovers, he made his first Blackpool appearance in a 5-1 victory over Morecambe in the Football League Trophy and wad in the Tranmere side defeated 1-0 by Sunderland at Wembley in the 2021 final of that competition. MacDonald played at The Mem in February 2020, his Blackpool side losing 2-1, and scored on the ground in November 2021, pulling a goal back to reduced Rovers’ two-goal lead in a game which finished 2-2 between Rovers and Tranmere. A Prenton Park team-mate of Stefan Payne, he was also sent off in Tranmere’s colours against both Forest Green and Carlisle in 2021-22 before being part of the Stockport side which ran up a 5-0 win at Hartlepool in League Two in December 2022.

With under 12 hours to go, our window so far... 1. Sinclair - replaced by Sinclair - Good 2. Thomas out - replaced by Quansah - jury out but seems to be an upgrade 3. Saunders out - replaced by Ward (kind of) - jury out. May have let Harvey go to soon IMO 4. Kilgour out - replaced by Bogarde - jury out, looks interesting 5. Clarke out - replaced by McDonald - jury out but dont understand this, looks desperate 6. Anssi out(ish) - replaced by Balcombe - jury out plus injuries to Gibson and Rossiter not covered - still not covered Updated. So we are probably about even pre/post window, with some interesting additions that could improve weak areas (especially if Bogarde can play CDM also). But all the players that were not good enough on Saturday will need to continue. Maybe more genius man management from Joey or maybe another hothead knee jerk reaction, time will tell. No impact player but hopefully SS7 can be released to cause havoc further up field now.

Pretty underwhelming, would of liked us to get the experienced CB in. I think barring a miracle we have conceded that the top 6 is pretty unachievable given the competition. Looks like another re-build in the summer. Sooner we get to a safe points total the better.

can't believe DC would trust that man again after he did the dirty on him last time, once a snake always a snake Yes agree, very surprised. Istr the press conference soon after that DC gave. I’m also surprised that MT appears to have fallen out of favour at Oxford after a decent record. I wonder what DC will say after the fans give him his customary welcome in our return match? UTG!

Incredibly poor window but probably decided it is all about survival now this term, make do and then build again for next season. Maybe the money we got in for Kilgour & Saunders went to paying off Westbrooke.

Bogarde is young and looking at his CV it seems he could have some potential. I hope to be proved wrong but the Macdonald transfer smells of a last minute panic signing. A lad who is in and out of a side in the division below doesn’t exactly excite me. It looks like a case of anyone will do. Disappointing.

what free agents are available, it wouldn’t shock me if we got someone in tomorrow Could see us trying to bring in Tyler Blackett. I'm hearing he's actually training with us at the moment!

A mixed January at best. Went into the window worrying that Collins could be sold and Colburn could be recalled. Having them two upfront still is a massive plus. We are still weak in midfield and lack experience at the back though. Also we are still weak at left back. It's good that we have kept the players we wanted but we could have added a bit more quality. We should have more than enough to stay up, which a lot of us would have took at the start of the season. Does anyone know he long Rossiter is out for?? JB's now signed 3 left backs this season, Gibbons, Gordon g McD, if we're still weak thrn that's down to him? Rossiter is potentially out for the season if he needs a knee op? Gibbons is a right back, who can play on the left. We looked unbalanced with him at left back in Saturday. He could have got down the line, or played it forward on loads of occasions, but always came back inside and had to go backwards. The player we signed yesterday just looks like cover.

Regarding MacDonald… Just remember that Matty Taylor was a bit part player from a league below, and Belly was surplus to requirements at Harrogate yet both turned out pretty well.

Does anyone know he long Rossiter is out for?? Poor window in my opinion. We were told we'd be much stronger at the end of the window than the beginning. That doesn't look likely. JB wanted 5 signings today and we ended up with a Stockport reject at LB and another untried youngster at CB. With the exception of Rossiter I don't think any of our midfielders have looked L1 class, and he might not play again this season. Was really hoping for a CB with experience to help our youngsters and a couple of quality midfielders. Hoping our business isn't done and there are a few good free agents we can sign. The new midfielder looked ok ok Saturday and actually played the ball forward. Don't think we signed a replacement to cover Rossiter though, to break up play. We are stronger than before though with the new player.
