On paper I'm definitely underwhelmed.
If these players are thrown in the team for Saturday then I'll judge then.
If we can add some like Tyler Blackett like Pirate said then I'd be happy with that.

can't believe DC would trust that man again after he did the dirty on him last time, once a snake always a snake Yes agree, very surprised. Istr the press conference soon after that DC gave. I’m also surprised that MT appears to have fallen out of favour at Oxford after a decent record. I wonder what DC will say after the fans give him his customary welcome in our return match? UTG! or simply DC has just moved on, like most Rovers fans should. At worst Taylor should be a pantomime villian, given what he did for us and not despised like some people who can't seem to let it go. I don't think Port Vale will get in the play-offs, but it could be seen as a move that might just give PV a chance

Tyler Blackett - so he’s training with us, info that might have been shared yesterday but I get it’s better to slate the clubs activity

As it stands, I'd be playing my preferred 4-2-3-1 with this squad, think it gives us the best chance overall. But expect JB to continue with 3-5-2 (or 3-4-1-2 depending on your viewpoint). I'll leave keeper out for now (but would bring Belly back) and suggest these 2 line ups
Hoole Quansah Connolly McDonald Finley Bogarde/Ward Sinclair Evans Collins Coburn
Hoole Quansah Connolly Anderson Finley Ward McCormick Gordon Coburn Collins
Coutts needs to be dropped. Evans dropped unless in the 3 behind Coburn.

Is Macdonald the same player that scored against us for Tranmere at the mem last season? If so, that was a very good goal, he's obviously got some quality about him.

JB's now signed 3 left backs this season, Gibbons, Gordon g McD, if we're still weak thrn that's down to him? Rossiter is potentially out for the season if he needs a knee op? Gibbons is a right back, who can play on the left. We looked unbalanced with him at left back in Saturday. He could have got down the line, or played it forward on loads of occasions, but always came back inside and had to go backwards. The player we signed yesterday just looks like cover. I thought Gibbons had a really good game on Saturday, I see where you are coming from but I don't think the issue was him, more so Evans who was in front of him looked to move the ball onto his right foot every time. For me Gibbons is naturally two footed.

Tyler Blackett - so he’s training with us, info that might have been shared yesterday but I get it’s better to slate the clubs activity Pirate only heard it this morning. The club usually keep this under wraps, e.g. Scott Sinclair and Charlie Austin, both had been training with us for a while before fans got to know about it.

I'm guessing have him in training for a couple days see how he gets on marking Collins and Coburn in training games and then JB will assess. Don't think JB has come out and said anything yet about any of the signings?

Blackett can play LB or CB We have at LB - McDonald, Gordon and then Gibbons, Anderson and Sinclair can also do a job at LB/LWB At CB we have Connolly, Quansah, Bogarde, Gibson (injured) plus Hoole and Gibbons, who can do a job at RCB in a three. It seems a bit odd considering who we’ve just signed, if Blackett comes in as well, but if he’s better than what we have, then fair play. I suppose we don’t know whether Barton sees Bogarde as a CDM, either.

After having a little watch and read, I think we will see Bogarde as a holding midfielder, with a view of filling in at centre back if needed. I have a feeling we will see Barton come away from the 3-5-2 and go 4-3-3 for the rest of the season. On Saturday I expect to see Bogarde holding in midfield with Finley and ward either side of him.

Bristol Rovers have signed defenders Lamare Bogarde from Aston Villa and Calum Macdonald from Stockport on loan. Bogarde, 19, joined Villa in 2020 and made his professional debut during their FA Cup campaign that season. The Dutch youth international, who came through Feyenoord's academy, has spent most of his career at Villa Park playing for their under-18s side. Calum Macdonald joins Rovers from League Two Stockport County. The 25-year-old left-back started his career with Derby County and has experience in League One and the National League following stints with Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers and Barrow before joining Stockport on a short deal last Autumn. Ps Matty Taylor rejoins DC at Port Vale from Oxford on loan.Oxford fans been wanting to see the back of Marty for a while cos his legs have gone.Been saying the same about Bodin as well.

My hope is the Blackett is training with us as suggested, proves his worth, and signs a deal at Rovers. He at least has some experience which might help our youngsters.
He can then slot into defence which would allow Bogarde to play in midfield.
