I hope he stays on further than the 2 weeks remaining with us BUT he needs to be played further up the pitch imo.Hes wasted in this team playing to defensive and it shows that when in a more attacking role he contributes to goals and scores goals so for me it's about using him to the greatest effect. I can't see why we use him as a defensive wide player when this lad is so fit and clinical up in the final 3rd? Championship clubs will definitely still be sniffing around Scott so please Joey if he does stay longer then use his undoubted skill and experience further up the pitch.

It sounds as though player and club want it to happen - hopefully they can sort a contract which suits both parties.

So where would you play him if we play with 5 at the back, given that Finley, Coburn and Collins are nailed on to start every game? I seriously doubt which position he plays will have a bearing on whether he's still here for the rest of the season. The main decisions with come down to what contract we can offer him and whether he wants to remain based in the Bristol/Bath area.

I would imagine that this area is quite a pull for him, his parents and other family members are on hand to help look after his 3 little ones when he has to go training etc. His ex-partner is probably happy for them to be with Grandparents when necessary, which cuts out some of the usual arguments which happen about childcare when a couple part ways.

I can't recall one game where he's played in that position for Rovers?

Scotty's contract expires in exactly a week.... Hoping we get news this week. Joey mentioned we'd made our final offer. Would be a fitting goodbye if he were to score versus Wycombe. Been decent but would be surprised if he left us for a Champ club, if he goes it'll be abroad.

agree on both counts. With a back 4 i'd play him right of an attacking midfield 3 with Collins and Evans/McCormick. But looks like we arent gonna be doing that any time soon

Personally i wouldn’t be worried if he left . I wouldn't be 'worried' but at the right price, he is a solid top 7 standard L1 winger. 18 Month contract is suitable for all parties IMO.

But looks like we arent gonna be doing that any time soon I presume you mean in a 4-2-3-1 which we used for the second half of last season? Rossiter/Coutts alongside Finley with your three tucked behind and wide of Coburn? Thats also my preferred set up.

Good that he’s signed.
Let’s hope we ditch this system where the wingbacks go so high up the pitch that they have no room to do anything. Wingbacks work much better when we are working angles and triangles to get behind. How we’re set up at the moment we are lucky to get behind the opposition in wingback areas once a game, we just don’t get the best out of whoever plays there, and we need to be getting the best out of a player like Sinclair.

Abandon wingback’s completely and go back to our tried and tested 4-2-3-1 with Sinclair wide in the three. Coburn up top, Collins wide and Evans in the number 10 position.

Really pleased he has signed. Regardless of whether it’s his best position, he has played it without complaint, committed himself fully to the Gas cause and already popped up with some important goals. More to come from Scotty.
