Whilst I don't want him to go unless we get some serious cheddar cheese for him...
A good replace could be
Sam Hopkins Langstaff Alfie May
Any thoughts

Apparently JB has said it would take £5m. Part of me thinks we are a bit wiser now and with transfer fees the way they are, we would be foolish to include £1m... But who knows Think DC said similar, just before we sold the snake.

How highly do other Gasheads rate him compared to our other great strikers?
I've been thinking about this tonight, I think he can be put right towards the very top.
The top 5 in my time would be Marcus Stewart, Barry Hayles, Jason Roberts, Jamie Cureton and Rickie Lambert.
Aaron Collins all round game is probably better than all of those imo. Scoring goals and assisting.
Marcus Stewart - Supreme finisher and oozed class in terms of touch and technique, but he didn't have the pace and trickery that Azza has.
Barry Hayles and Jason Roberts were all about pace, power and strength, but I think Azza is a better technical Footballer than those 2.
Jamie Cureton - Like Marcus Stewart, supreme finisher and could score all sorts of goals and from anywhere, but again he didn't have the pace and trickery of Azza.
Rickie Lambert - Like Marcus Stewart again, oozed class in terms of touch, technique and Football brain, but also didn't have the pace and trickery of Azza.
Aaron Collins surely has to be right up there doesn't he?
Also Josh Coburn deserves a lot of credit too. Another absolute gem.

Loved watching Barry Hayles, strong as an ox and was never shook off the ball.
Stewart was always class, Lambert was ace, but we were one dimensional without him. Roberts was full of pace and power. Cureton was an out and out goalscorer - not many of thwm about theae days. Ellington was a complete one off.
Aaza would be right up the list for me.

I'm pretty confident that Azza won't be going anywhere soon remember we have Joey as manager and he's not a pushover or a yes man like DC BG or Tis If the club were to sale Azza against Joeys wishes, Im fairly sure Joey will walk as its undoing his plans building a championship side and we all know how hungry he is for promotion. Logically it is the last thing the owners would want given the current success he's achieving on the field plus off the field he's rejuvenated the fan base and fan support.

Just FYI I worked with his dad and still in touch with him.
They are a gas family. Welsh, but defo Gasheads. When I asked his old man what would happen if city doubled his money he said with absolute conviction “ We’re Rovers through and through” which was music to my ears.
His father is a successful business owner. He isn’t from the wrong side of the tracks so I don’t think he’s desperate for “one big contract” like some players are - some players have parents and siblings in poverty and a couple of million would see them ok.
While I’m sure we all want a couple of mil, I would imagine AC would only move for a good career opportunity rather than “anyone who can double my wages asap”
He lives close, they have friends who are supporters of the club. Aaron is now the star man of the team who once told him he wouldn’t be a pro, and he’s now our hero. Carrying-down-glocs-road-on-our-shoukders-and-pis$ed-up-on-a-lampost type hero.
I’m sure he does want to go higher - I doubt he wants his whole career in league 1, but I also doubt he’s contacting his agent, spreading his release fee (don’t even know if he has one) and touting himself to our rivals and anyone out there.
So, if he goes, it will be either because BIG money is being paid to us, which is fine, £5M is good business for us, or he’s had an offer from a really good club who might get to the prem. in both scenarios, we will wish him well. Plan A is to get there with us I am sure.

If someone offered £5m and Wael said to Joey, “we will keep a mil, and here’s £4m to strengthen your team” I think Joey might not leave. He knows football and how it works. Also, showing other players coming up thah JB’s Bristol Rovers will make you a star and then help you go higher in the game, when the time and the offer is right, is actually good for business. Let’s say he went for £5M to a Norwich, a Stoke etc, what a good story to any up and coming striker considering signing for clubs. Joey can say “look how we developed him and now look where he is” If we spend £3m we could get several really good players. However, goals are the hardest thing to acquire and AC has them, lots of them. And assists.

Wales have Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia (A) and Latvia (H) in March. If Collins keeps up this form there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be in Rob Page’s squad. Latvia at home especially, one of the worst teams in Europe currently, would be a perfect chance to see what Aaron can do on the international scene in the Wales shirt.
Get an international cap on that CV and chuck an extra 500k on the asking price.

As far as Collins playing for Wales, didn't Rob Page suggest he intended to freshen the squad after their WC exit.

If we spent a million on a player their wage demands, as a player of that sort off fee, would probably break the current structure. What would be the impact of a player in the changing room getting 2 or 3 times what everyone else is on?

But who knows think Darryl Clarke said the same about Taylor He said £10m trying to generate interest from other clubs and get a bidding war going. Didn't work so the £300k release fee was all that was needed.

As we are running at a loss at the moment, I really can’t see those figures myself either, JB would be lucky to get £1m out of the hypothetical £5m for 2 or 3 players, probably including salaries. Mind you, we tend to have undisclosed fees these days and likely to include add ons such as goal targets, sell on clauses or international call ups.

Will wait for the deadline day bid from Peterborough for 750k paid in installments which we will inevitably accept.

The reason I I think & hope we can hold onto Aaron is that I read an article that mentioned the state of championship club finances ( look across the city ), so hopefully a large enough bid will not come in to force the club to sell. IMHO to sell him for anything less than £3 million would be criminal, he’s the most talented & improving player we had in years & our best hope of achieving a decent league position.

Hopefully (if it comes to it) we’ll sell him for enough wedge that’ll leave Dale Vince sick to his stomach.

We have already spent around a £million since this summer with actual transfer fees, agents fees and relocation bonuses for new players and that's not including pay increases for the under contract players. Wael believes the dream, so forks out £2 million a year to cover the shortfall, so yeah, if he thought we could genuinely push for promotion, I think he will spend a couple more million.
