Has signed a new FGR contract.
I've enjoyed my time since I've been here. We're doing well so I'm chuffed to bits," he told the club website. "I could have chosen to stay at Exeter and I took the gamble of dropping down. I think the gamble is going well so far."
Yeah doing really well Danny. Not even in the play offs with the biggest budget in the league!
Excellent gamble. Exeter progessing to being just outside the league two playoffs whilst your stuck outside the conference playoffs.

How could he have chosen to stay. He was basically hounded out of the place after abusing a fan. He must live in a parallel universe.

Has probably realised that no one any higher will take him now so has to chat sh** to get a new contract. How on earth could he have stayed at Exeter after the twitter row he had with fans?

I heard that Stephen Hawking had updated his ideas about space and time.
Apparently there are now believed to be two inhabitable planets.
Planet Earth and Planet Coles.

I think probably the extent of his career now as cant see him going any higher at this stage so he took the money. As we know it's probably the best wedge he's going to get in the conference and he can now sit back and enjoy the security whilst acting the wide boy of the changing room - a wasted talent but only himself to blame

Think the bloke has taken too many punches to the head during car park fights with fans.

Yet another thread started just to have a pop at an ex Rovers player, then fans wonder why players seem reluctant to join us.

Yet another thread started just to have a pop at an ex Rovers player, then fans wonder why players seem reluctant to join us. Just discussing recent news. I don't really understand why you need to post that? I guess you think it was a good career move dropping down a league and that FGR are doing really well on their title winning budget?

You don't honestly believe players decide whether or not to join us based on o forum? STFU man. Everyone knows Gaschat is THE place. Darrell gets all his transfer targets and tactics off here. Nick reads to get the stadium updates. The Bristol City Evening post get all their stories here. The PFA recommend players read us before signing. Toni Watola likes the knob gags.

Pleased to get the chance of first team football in front of plenty of supporters. Happy with the basic wage and bonus package. Like the area - nice flat lined up. ..............oh wait a minute. One or two fans were nasty about Danny Coles on one of the club's independent forums. I'm not signing for Rovers now.

I think the point is that there is a general perception about Rovers fans (which I happen to agree with) which says that heroes can quickly become villains - I do think that tie-break things like that can influence a player's decision to join, yes.

I don't think we are any worse than every other club. Look at how Lambert is still remembered. Campbell got a good reception last week. Many past greats are still very fondly remembered. If it seems we've got worse lately its more a reflection if the sh** we've had on offer from the playing staff than it is on us as fans. Not only in terms of skill and effort but also off the field. Sinclair, Parkes, Mansell, Mildy are all going to be well regarded by us. JJOT shot himself in the foot big time, otherwise we would/could have left on much better terms.

There's constant criticism of Ollie - his desire to have a career rather than be some sort of permanent Rovers pet his constantly held against him. Will Hoskins was utterly derided for moving on after our relegation from League One despite him proving a useful servant at the time. You say that about Lambert but the old OF had some pretty ridiculous remarks both when he left and when he played for Southampton. I think the number of threads just on the front page of this forum and on the IF show we have a bit of an obsession.

Implying these threads created by Rovers fans are somehow unrepresentative of the opinions of Rovers fans.

I think that (probably) ex, current and future players pay attention to: - Who they know at the club and what they know about the club
- Cash on offer
- Current form and overall league position
- How much glory/how many ladies they can get inside the next 12-18 months based on playing for the club in the next 12-18 months
And probably in that order.
Maybe the glory/ladies criteria might be higher for a few...
No future Rovers player takes anything said on the forums seriously. If they do, they've already failed at becoming a future Rovers player

I think the number of threads just on the front page of this forum and on the IF show we have a bit of an obsession. I agree re Hoskins. I don't recall more than 1 or 2 posters (out of 600 members) having a dig at Ollie and its hardly constant. Personally I don't think he owes us anything and he has just been professional. Regards to the threads here, I'm on the fence. My personal feeling is I wish we'd show a little more class to let it go. However, JJOT, Coles, Pipe, Blizzard etc. maybe deserve it a bit. The recent threads on Matt Macey and Lambert were pretty positive and the ones on Santos and Richards reasonably balanced. Personally, I get more pished off with the constant attacks on certain CURRENT players. Something I really do not understand. And yes Markash, I know I need to let it go.
