I noticed a thread on "The passionate gas heads" facebook page with an old table from 1976.
At the time it was 2pts for win and 1 pt for a draw as we know this was changed to 3pts and 1pts in 1981 but I wonder if social media and forums had been around at the time like it is now would there have been an outcry with the change of system ?
Which then got me thinking is it time to freshen up the points system again ?......... by awarding 3pts for home win and 1pt for home score draw and 0pt for Nil Nil draw and then 4pts for Away win 2pts for Away score draw and 1pt for Nil Nil way draw.
This idea benefits the away side greatly and I think it would stop a lot of sides playing a boring shut up shop football in the process.
