Cheer up. We are mid-table in L1 with plenty of big teams in the division with fans who expect even more. Staying afloat is more than some fans get. of course we are all ambitous, but unless you have the cash or know someone with it willing to lose millions, just enjoy it! He's improved things (except the stadium) and fans are mainly happy and watching and buying season tickets. Dark blue doesn’t need me to back him up, he can do that himself, but he is right. The bottom line is as it is in ‘16 with the exception of the training ground. People always use the “plenty of big teams in League 1” argument to stop us expecting any more than we’ve got. I suspect had we had that new ground we could have been one of those big clubs. Like others I like Wael and the things he’s done but the priority back in ‘16 was the new ground and it still is, just like it’s been for nearly 40 years. Come on percy “staying afloat” isn’t more than some fans get, most EFL clubs do that. The argument used by some about “spending someone else’s money” is also a tad disengenuous. I don’t think it’s a valid argument, if you haven’t got the money to waste then don’t get into it in the first place. It’s no good buying a club and then saying we haven’t got the money to do this or that. And that’s esp true of Wael given one of his first interviews after buying us when he said “finance wasn’t a problem,” clearly it is. Before others say I’m anti-Wael, I’m not, I love the things he’s done but it’s low-lying stuff compared to the new ground and for as long as that remains the case well stay in the lower leagues swapping between good and bad years of promotion and relegation. It’s the clear lack of a plan as to what to do. This new proposal re the South Stand could / should have been done years ago, that it’s being done now tells me that Wael is no further along with permanent plans now than he was back along. And I do just enjoy it as I’ve always done, even the Burton match and that first goal and I’m already looking forward to the FGR away match. But if Wael takes the applause when good things happen then he should also be criticised when important stuff doesn’t. UTG as always! Just dont think things are particularly bad. Yes hold him to account, but appreciate what we have too. Glass half full and all.

We as fans always want better.Neighbour, big Chelsea fan and will be at Stamford Bridge tomorrow but despite their mega spending they don't seem to be playing too well. Manager getting death threats and my neighbour says ,'You don't know how lucky you are following Rovers with 3 pm Kick Offs on Sats and no VAR. However even at our level the state of our ground isn't acceptable and even the new proposed 'Made in 6 weeks edifice'South Tent Stand' seems too much to ask. Will die happy once the tent eventually disappears.

What have I missed ? Had a quick scroll through the posts and some are talking about the fruit market like it’s going ahead and some are talking about the Mem like we’re redeveloping it ? Anything concrete to any of this I haven’t seen anything in the news ? As it’s a temporary stand I doubt there will be any concrete! I went to watch AFC Wimbledon v Stevenage on Tuesday. They have 3 stands that are "temporary" and are all metal with metal roofs and with no pillars obstructing the view. If ours is similar to that then it will be a huge improvement on the tents.

If they have 3 “temporary” stands how come the build costs were so high ? I’m sure I read they forked out multiple millions to build their stadium. I’ve not been there though . Did you take any photos so we could get an idea of the setup?

I have no idea about the costs. but given it's location I would imagine there were some logistical challenges which probably added to the costs. (and it is London) This link shows the main stand which is a permanent structure footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-one/plough-lane-afc-wimbledon.htmlThe other 3 stands look like they have been remoulded from containers or portacabins. (they haven't, they just look like it). I did not take any pics (not my thing) but the other Gasheads that went may have done. (Eric Medical Gas or South Wales Gas) Any of the 3 temp stands could be removed easily and replaced with larger or have permanent stands built in their place (two/three tier like the main stand) to increase capacity.

The only thing temporary about the way Wimbledon have constructed their ground is that they have constructed it with the ability to increase the capacity to 20,000. "Construction proceeded with the permanent west stand initially, with main entry from the south off Plough Lane. This is a four-storey structure with general admission access from the first floor, and hospitality above. This structure seats 4,267 spectators; semi-permanent stands on the other three sides brings initial capacity to 9,215. Among the semi-permanent seating, the most vocal home fans will be in the south, which will include a safe standing area; a family area along the east; and away fans will be in the north stand, which is isolated with its own entry. A secondary entrance for home fans in the south and east stands is located on the easterly pedestrian-only street, Greyhound Parade."

Eddie the Eagle and the Jamaican bobsleigh team weren't short of publicity, but hardly a force in their respective fields. I don't see any signs of us developing as a club under Wael whatsoever For all the talk we're pretty much where we were 6 years ago in a more dilapidated stadium Apart from the £35 million debt he wrote off and the £1 million Training Ground, the £3 million he writes off every year, paying to keep the Club alive through Covid, Fans Zone, I think he also paid for several Club Coaches and fans tickets for cancelled away trips, yep, pretty much the same. Debt was not 35 million it was around 18 if you speak to TG, who just before covid came along told me that the clubs aim was to break even, unfortunately covid put pay to that. It will be interesting to see whether the club eventually get near to that aim.

was it three managers we were paying at one time and two CEO'S. Some of the high level recruitment was shocking. How the hell he thought Garner and the bloke from Exeter was good recruitment God only knows. His deficiency in those areas ultimately cost him big time in losing players at significant times and in some cases huge cost. At the end of the day it's his money and his club, he can do what he wants with it and in fairness you rarely hear him whinge about it Other than still being in existence I don't get any indication the club has moved forward. I personally don't think he understands the embarrassment surrounding the clubs home ground and I think he's been too slow in doing something about that. You don't know what players he lost because of Managerial appointments, or do you? But other than keeping the Club going, by spending tens of millions, and ignoring my list of how he's spent it, other than announcing he's secured 10 acres of land and paying £60 mil on a new Stadium, he's still not done enough for you. I keep saying he's a nice bloke and done loads for the club. But it his club and his money so any money he's losing week in week out is his choice. He's chosen to run a loss making company and I'm sure he gets something out of it personally. The point is we're in no better a place football wise or stadium wise than we were 6 years ago. And from what Ive heard and seen I don't see much changing over the next 6 either.

Hopefully it will be similar to that, from some info I found, metal pre-fab stands cost about 50,000 per hundred seats that is a million pounds for a 2,000 seated stand. If most of those seats get taken within three years the stand should pay for itself. Based that on our season ticket prices. So it is viable to have a temporary stand similar to the one's at Wimbledon,,I just don't know why it wasn't done before. As I pointed out to the club we have lost loads of revenue by not investing in the ground in the past.

If we do manage to build the new stand then it will be the first one with a fixed metal roof we've ever built as a club.

I used to treat myself and sit in it sometimes.

Not sure that qualifies when we built it at another club's ground? Just a pity we didn't bring it with us and build it where the SW stand was eventually built.

We tried to bring it to The Mem but the cost was prohibitive and a deal was done with Bath City for it to remain there.

All well and good, however if the income from the seats is going to offset the cost of the stand, that's 3 years with less of it going into the club coffers for wages etc. Some of it will be additional income to what we have at present, although I can't see us getting 4,000 seats in that space, so it could be a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
