Bit harsh. A public flogging would suffice. The Stocks, placed by the Mem Gates. Free custard pies to throw at him. Cox throw will hit the last house in filton ave....

The proof is in the pudding.
Early Season Ticket sales in the South Stand are not a disappointment.
Really hoping the stand becomes a true family-friendly section.

Just had a quick look on the ticketing map & it looks like about 50% of the season tickets available in the 3 blocks of the south stand have been taken, i would imagine the home area of the stand will be pretty full for most matches next season & provide a decent atmosphere.

If we've managed 383 pages on a bit of prefab steel with pillars, we must be on for about 2,000 when the East Stand mega build is announced. Hope I'm still around when it opens its gleaming corridors.

We have made errors I accept . But can you imagine the difficulty the club will have in submitting more plans?. I'll be surprised if its built within 5 years now we have agreed to the whims of the Green intellects.

As we've seen with every other planning application for the Mem, the council will approve sensible plans - even if they are large scale and/or significantly change the appearance/capacity of the ground (or even change the usage of the site). The Greens want to keep it as a football stadium, all we will be doing is making it a better football stadium...

We once had plans approved for an approximately 5,000 seater north end stand but the council put so many licensing restrictions on it ,compared to other local drinking establishments, that it meant that the whole project was abandoned as it was no longer viable. Hence the whole exercise was a total waste of time and cost the club a lot of money. All the fault of the council.

Hence the whole exercise was a total waste of time and cost the club a lot of money. All the fault of the council. Planning permission was approved and with one minor condition that (given we're now in 2024 not 2005) would be unlikely to be put in place now. And as far as I remember that licensing restriction could and probably would have been appealed but the idea for the full 'student accommodation' rebuild was starting to shape up and so it was abandoned for what was (in theory) a bigger and better plan - that was also approved...

So we agree, speaking to the council first about "what is and isnt possible" is a good idea. Stops wasting time and money. Fans and residents can then see the plans and discuss those, rather than some pie in the sky ideas.
Looking forward to seeing them. Hope we arent disappointed!

Still don't think that will stop a 5th group forming!. Every single application have seen a counter group set up to oppose eg: Horfield Rose : Trash : F.O M.S and ' no to south stand ' of course groups are allowed to protest and object . However let's not deny reality that all the groups have been supported ' directly ' or ' indirectly ' by the Greens. In fact most of them have been supported via the Green party website . And the club have engaged with the locals . Emma ( Green) is a ' liasing person ' with Rovers & G.C C.C and her role is to feedback information and minutes / meetings were held via F.O.M.S discussions. I accept we haven't done every thing right . But do I believe that community engagement : consultation and massive dialogue locally will prevent a 5th protest group ?. NO I don't . Time will tell but I expect a counter protest group to be up and running in the next year once plans have been submitted.

Bristol elects all 70 councillors on May 2nd, and whether you live in Bishopston & Ashley Down or Westbury-on-Trym & Henleaze, your vote is more important than before with the mayoral position being abolished. If you get any kind of interaction with your local candidates, ask them about key issues like the Memorial Ground and cast your vote wisely...

Anounce plans on the 3rd? 😎 I've wondered if the decision to have capacity at 16,000 was partly made for planning and political reasons. It's not as intimidating as, for example, 20,000 to the casual observer. Probably not the main issue, but it may be a factor in the early talks with the council.

It works on consumers, so retailers appear to believe.
