Why can't fans who sponsor the players present the caps?
If the FC is losing money and an easy win- win situation would be to re- introduce the SC player of the year at the Mem.
Ordinary fans can mix with the players and the cap sponsors get free entry and there can be a cap presentation event at the same time as the player of the year prizes so no player leaves empty handed.
If it was held after the Marcus Stewart match, there would probably a bigger crowd for both, which more money raised for charity and more bar takings ie win- win.
This would also help raise the profile of the new SC and reaffirm the all together approach.

Cap sponsorhip is not limited to one person per player, e.g. you could have 20 people sponsoring Belly's cap, which would be rather chaotic regarding numbers. Each sponsor gets a photo of the player with his cap.

If there was a running order based on squad no's the fans and players would have enough notice to see if they should queue at the bar, before or after the photo for example. It is quite a lot of money to pay out in current climate and seems a bit unfair that other fans have had pictures with legends and yet not allowed (or at least not organised) with the current squad. I remember many great player of the year parties especially the Gerry and Ollie eras, when the players were the last to leave. As it is almost a guaranteed money maker and helps build fan rapport, I just don't know why a SC player of the year at the Mem doesn't happen, yet a club event for sponsors, away from the Stadium, does? Surely there is scope for both?

Remember Ollie and Andy Reece dancing on the tables, and Ollie's wife telling him it was time to go home.

Bumped in case anyone wanted to put in a last minute sponsorship offer.
See the SC website, or pop in the SC match day shop for details.

What happens if a current player doesn't get a sponsor, do they miss out on a cap? Sorry not on the committee anymore so no idea. I think it would be unfair not to give caps to anyone who did qualify, so I would imagine they would all get one. Perhaps sponsors could come forward retrospectively - a bit like the sponsorship of previous players are done?
