I read the following today from Epost regarding Anderson
"H, I spoke to him, we can’t offer him a deal. He hasn’t been fit,” Barton said. “(I said) ‘come back pre-season, see how you are’, because he’s a good citizen here and when fit he’s a huge asset. This season we haven’t seen enough of that."
But he wants to offer J Grant a new deal even though his injury record has been far far worse
"That leaves the futures of left-back Calum Macdonald, who played the final nine minutes of the Bolton game, veteran goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola, young duo Ryan Jones and Jamie Egan, plus midfielders Grant Ward and Josh Grant to be resolved, although Barton has previously indicated he’d like to keep the latter duo and talks remain ongoing."
Grant hasn't really kicked a ball in months, I know there is a good player there, but let's not waste money. I'd rather keep Anderson

I'd rather keep Anderson Wild guess but I would expect Grant to be offered only a very short term deal or a “pay as you play”. Anderson different as others likely to come in for him and I expect him to be off. If no one comes in, we are in a good position to offer him reduced contract terms. The “not a charity” line would back this up.

I'd rather keep Anderson Looking at it from another angle having spent a fortune on wages and, I assume, ops, does it make sense now to wave him goodbye when he might just be returning to fitness? For all we know he might take a minimal wage just to try and get his career back on track.

A fully fit Anderson is a great utility player and he has a lot of suitors I believe… I think he wants more than we’re prepared to offer at the moment with him being injured and having had a poor injury record this season… hence our prove your fitness and we’ll offer better approach I think Grant is almost now back to full fitness having had major operations to solve what was causing his problems the last few seasons… I don’t believe he’ll have many suitors hence I think he may be offered a low ish 1 year deal with extension clauses and pay increases if he plays a certain number of games (pure guesswork by me but it’s what I’d do)

No wonder football is in such a financial mess if Anderson, after just 96 minutes of football this season, has a number of suitors, I assume ready to offer him at least a year's contract.

Think his suitors are probably looking at his League 2 season and like we’ve done historically going if we can get him fit and he stays fit then he’ll be a real asset… difference is for us is that we’re not prepared to take the chance without him proving his fitness first and at League 1 level it’s important we have the depth required to compete at the top end next season whereas someone like Wrexham who are rumoured to be interested or Portsmouth who also are linked can afford it and to have a much larger squad without falling foul of FFP rules etc…

Not sure any club can just write off £75K/£100K(?) gambling on a players fitness, when they can sign one who is fit. It's not like they are potentially getting a Collins or Bodin on the cheap.
