Seems like it was mentioned on several threads, but did we ever get a definitive answer as to how/why we were able to do this on Sunday?
Thought Frosty mightve addressed it with Joey post-match but not to be.

Probably the most effort the waste of space has put in this season.

Concussion substitutes are not considered part of the five. Coburn clearly hit his head on the post at the end of the first half and was withdrawn at halftime. If you watch the end of season interview from the awards ceremony he is obviously still feeling the effects as he is intelligible and lucid…something he never normally is in post match interviews Presumably a second concussion substitution was asked for and granted.

Yeah the seventh one is the confusing one. We know one extra was allowed for concussion. During the match we still only made subs on three occasions (the maximum permitted, excluding half time). Assuming Whealan only came off again for a standing ovation, does that mean one of the other five was classed as a concussion sub?

I wonder if there is an additional exception for goalkeepers with it being a ‘specialist’ position?

Yes an post article, but the quote was he loved his time, as in past tense. Now it could mean his playing time here, or could be a mistake in the quote by the poster. You would think the actual comments being made would be more accurate than a report in web. The article is badly written especially when you read about Coutts.

Someone else told me that you get a free one for a goalkeeper but haven't checked back to the rulebook to see if they are correct. Can't think what else it could be though.

Watched a game on Sky from the Championship earlier this season. A keeper was injured late on and couldn’t carry on. The team had made all their subs and had to put an outfield player in goal and finish the game with ten men.

You can make up to 2 concussion subs per game. If you make a concussion sub, the opposition is also allowed to make a further substitution. IIRC, for a concussion sub, you have to hand a particular card to the 4th who has to inform the ref and opposition, to allow them an extra (or possibly 2)- substitution.

Surely a player needs to seek treatment before we can use a concess sub or we could use one every match?
