I don't think Blackpool and Fleetwood have quite the same rivalry or history as Bristol City and Rovers. Granted they're close, but it's more comparable to a small club like Cheltenham or Forest Green rising up to our level. John Ward's second spell at Rovers actually began really well. He had a 50% win ratio in 2013-13 after taking over from Mark McGhee. It just all went so horribly wrong the following season and the gamble of swapping Eliot Richards for Alan Gow, who immediately got injured was disastrous. So his reputation is rightly tainted by relegation to non league, but I still have a higher opinion of him than the likes of Buckle, McGhee and Garner I can’t remember how it transpired but I think Darrell tapped him up for a job and he obliged. The rest, as they say, is history. Even if his own second spell wasn’t great he sowed the seeds for a hell of a few years… blagged it I think was his wording in a really good interview posted on here many promotions ago.

A member of the coaching staff in the East Stand, wearing a discreet ear piece, stealthily passing on instructions from JB to the bench, and we're sorted. It worked for Jose! "Hello I am Mr... Notrab from someplace far away" He looks more like Yosser Hughes "Gizza a job I can do that Gizza a go"

I haven't been following Bristol Rovers progress much this season. I followed you closely in 2021-22. At the end of that season I wrote on here that one man deserved praise and thanks above all others. One man stood shoulder to shoulder with his manager through a poor first half of the season on the pitch and all the off-field scandals when virtually everybody else wanted Barton out and with every excuse/reason to do so. Has any football manager ever worked under a better owner? I would hope, no matter what opportunity may arise for Joey Barton, he will reward Mr Wael with promotion to The Championship before he moves on.

Don't think there was ever a time when virtually everybody wanted JB out, a small minority have never accepted him and never will ,some judged the results not good enough and wanted change, many were prepared to give JB time and were rewarded in spectacular fashion, most have seen this as a season to consolidate and deem it satisfactory, the next couple seasons will be pivotal in determining whether Rovers have a bright future and at the same time determine if JB has what it takes to be a top manager, signs are good but time will tell, you are right about Wael though, he has backed JB come what may and he deserves some payback, think they are both on same wave length and i hope that just as N FOREST fans and owner have been rewarded for standing by their manager , Rovers fans and owner can look forward to good times ahead.

Managerial appointments often divide opinion.Leeds appointed Javi Garcia-ex Watford.Saints ,Nathan Jones who was out of his depth at Stoke and Leicester Dean Smith. Not my choice and none of em did too well with Garcia and Jones sacked themselves very shortly after their appointment. Brendan Rodgers tipped to take over at West Ham. In contrast Forest kept faith with Steve Cooper. They have stayed up but Saints down and Leeds and Leicester likely to follow. JB has certainly put us on the map and despite the anti brigade and all his faults,he took time out at Exeter when the team coach arrived to speak and thank the large Gas welcome party.Be careful what you wish for.

Not sure what point you're making here. As you say, some clubs have appointed new managers and some clubs haven't. Some have done well and some haven't. What's that got to do with JB and his distinctive style of management? That we shouldn't ever wish to lose JB because of good and bad managers elsewhere?

Not sure any of them have been an embarrassment to the club like JB has been? How hard is it just to keep his mouth shut after a game? You forgot to add Roy Houghton and Neil Warnock to your list, or are you only listing failures?

Roy Hodgson I think you may mean but I take your point.Roy Houghton played for Notts County many years ago.

Raised our profile in what way, outside of Bristol we certainly don't have a better profile, football fans just know as the team who've got an JB as manager when nobody else would employ him.

[br how do you know no one else would employ him ? Always in the low odds when any vacancy comes up.our profile has certainly improved in Bristol or have you not noticed something happening at the mem at present ?17th yet play at near full capacity and need to expand.

If somebody else would employ him he would have been already employed when we were looking for a manager, JB being in the betting odds and not getting the job adds weight to the fact not many other clubs would employ him. i assume fans are turning up in numbers as we're playing attractive football again (thanks to JB) not just because JB's our manager.

With a heavily reduced capacity. Don’t be daft.

Was going to mention that as ive been reading through Joeys tweets and responses. That Mark McBurney seems like a card. Or another 4 letter word starting with c. Fancy calling yourself an ex-gashead just because of who the manager is
