Yet they’ll still probably overspend and get back to the Championship once again.

Knowing us we will play them away in the first game of the season and they will only be on minus 1 point after the first game.

Interesting interview with Andy Holt the Accrington chairman about redefining "winning".
He is not scared of relegation as they know their place and as a well run club, they can bide their time to gradually evolve into a league one club, with gradually having a better infrastructure and facilities to encourage new fans, rather than 1, 2 or 3 year "projects" or timescales.
He cited Wigan spending £7.5 more than they can afford to win promotion, then having to sign 10 new players, while having 6-7 players not good enough for the higher level still under expensive contracts, losing millions each season and then failing to pay staff, is not "winning".
Like Plymouths chair, it seems some people don't think you need to throw money at the problem and spend to buy promotion, at a massive cost to the club.
Hopefully more clubs get the idea and this will lead to more sustainable running of clubs.

No, we’ll play them when they’ve been bought out, again and told everything’s good and they’ve got new owners. They will have bought a few decent players with money that has miraculously appeared from somewhere! Just like 2/3 years ago! Knowing our luck. 🤔 Wigan are a total mess and have been for a long time. A good example of bust and boom and back to bust. UTG!

They're also subject to another 4 points if they commit the same offence of not paying their players on time on a suspension ruling.
Let's help them. Boycott!

Full of common sense and realises that risking his club on trying to compete with the Championship wannabes in League 1 is stupid. I don’t know the whole story with Accrington but suspect their fanbase won’t change too much between Leagues 1 and 2. The biggest loss will probably be the away support that follow the visiting teams. Not so high in League 2. UTG!

There was talk yesterday that Fleetwood also face a points deduction .... anyone else see that? Their owner found guilty of multiple counts of fraud. I don't know enough really, but not sure if they will suffer a points deduction if charges are against him directly? Unless this ends up in an administration for the club when he has to relinquish his ownership?

Normally I feel sorry for clubs in this situation, but it seems it’s the same clubs that overspend constantly chasing success. Not good for lower league football as a whole.

The same clubs, the same problems, and the checks put in place to prevent these things happening (rather than catching them after they do) keep failing. The EFL needs to up it's game to keep it a level playing field on the pitch and off it and they seem to have issues with both....

His Majesty's Revenue & Customs has lodged a winding-up petition against Wigan Athletic over unpaid tax bills, with a hearing date of 26 July.
It follows the English Football League placing the Latics under a transfer embargo last week for breaching league rules on tax payment.
Wigan will begin the League One season after relegation with an eight-point deduction for late payment of salaries.
It also understood money is outstanding from last month's salary payments.
The club has said it is in the process of being sold but one of the interested parties, 21-year-old businessman Sarbjot Johal, failed to gain EFL approval for his proposed purchase of Morecambe earlier this year.

I’m going to make a bold statement here. We won’t have a better chance to get promoted from this league for a very long time. Less big teams, teams with point deductions, our manager has a second year in a row to improve in league 1, slightly bigger budget for us due to higher capacity. It’s all over to Joey to get it right.

Nice little 3 wins out of 4 or something, get right up there amongst the early pace setters & give ourselves something to build on from the off.
