I stumbled across David James’ documentary on Sky on the lack of opportunities and the stigma around black and ethnic minority goalkeepers. It was a really interesting watch but also contained a couple of Rovers related features. The first was an interview with Ellery Balcombe. The second was a segment at The Quarters with David Coles (Rovers GK coach) and James who worked together at Portsmouth. It’s worth a watch if you’ve got a bit of spare time this bank holiday. UTG

I missed Balcombe and Cole’s but had it on fleetingly the other day and Tony Warner was interviewed for quite a bit too.

UTG David James used to live in Chudleigh in Devon and spent his time painting - football was no longer in his life. He suddenly seems all over the media - change of heart or money running out?

Remember watching him at Twerton, was it for Watford? going down as if hit by Frank Bruno every time our own Bruno went within a yard of him!

UTG Thanks for the heads up, I remember seeing a photo of Balcombe and James at the Quarters, and wondered what it was about.
