I stumbled across David James’ documentary on Sky on the lack of opportunities and the stigma around black and ethnic minority goalkeepers.
It was a really interesting watch but also contained a couple of Rovers related features. The first was an interview with Ellery Balcombe. The second was a segment at The Quarters with David Coles (Rovers GK coach) and James who worked together at Portsmouth.
It’s worth a watch if you’ve got a bit of spare time this bank holiday.

I missed Balcombe and Cole’s but had it on fleetingly the other day and Tony Warner was interviewed for quite a bit too.

UTG David James used to live in Chudleigh in Devon and spent his time painting - football was no longer in his life. He suddenly seems all over the media - change of heart or money running out? |

Remember watching him at Twerton, was it for Watford? going down as if hit by Frank Bruno every time our own Bruno went within a yard of him!
