I remember in the 70s and 80s the SC used to raffle cup final tickets.
I vaguely remember that all 92 league clubs rec'd a couple of comps and the FC passed them on to the SC.
Not sure if all league clubs still receive any but it is probably prohibited due to touting laws nowadays.
Anyway, I'm neutral, just interested in watching a good game, but something deep down still wants the blues to beat the reds!

I expect you're right about the tickets, although I don't think the new laws have put the touts out of business. Best team won today.

Don't think tickets for an FA Cup Final are the gold dust they once were. 7,000 empty seats today

I suspect it depends upon who’s playing. If one of the middling clubs make it to the final then then it would be more memorable for them. Unfortunately today for the bigger PL clubs the FA Cup is lower down the priority list and that’s probably reflected in the crowds. I suppose the missing thousands maybe those tickets that go to ‘others’ apart from the two teams. At least today it was a 3.00 kick off. UTG!

Selling tickets at that price really should be stamped on. Some people have no conscience at all.

Plus since the FA Cup final in 2011 (I think) when Man City picked up the first of their massive recent haul, they’ve played at the national stadium something like 27 times in the last 12 years.

I got tickets for an FA cup final 1988 and a league cup final, season ticket holders used to be invited into a draw.

Crikey, I didn't realise that they'd been there that many times. Plus, Man City fans have the expense of the Champions League Final next weekend, if you could only afford one, I'm guessing that it would be this one.

Correction: 25 times FA Cup 12 times Charity Shield 5 times League Cup 6 times Premier League Twice (Vs Spurs) Incredibly prior to 2011 their last appearance at Wembley was the famous Play Off final Vs Gillingham in 1999

More like more of the usual I think that holding the semi-finals at Wembley has really devalued the "magic" of getting to the Final. Also, too many corporate tickets, and not enough reasonably priced tickets for actual fans of the clubs.

Also, back in the day, whatever it’s faults, the old Wembley and the Wembley experience was very much the pinnacle in regards to stadia in England. Nowadays I’m not sure you could still say that, with many modern grounds seeming very similar. It’s all a bit sterile in comparison to how it once was.

Given Rodman had/has vertigo, you cam imagine that being quite a scare when climbing the upper tiers

Given Rodman had/had vertigo, you cam imagine that being quite a scare when climbing the upper tiers When Alex played at the Stadium of Light, his Dad had to climb to the top tier to watch, not long after having a hip replacement. The things parent put themselves through, eh! I think the steepness of the rake at Newcastle's ground is the one which made me feel a bit unsafe whenever I stood up.

does the club still get tickets for the FA cup final? if they do, perhaps the club keeps them for themselves. I remember when supporters club were given a few by the club, but not sure that happens anymore.
