 News to me but top Polo player Howard Hipwood has died aged 73.Obituary in the Telegraph claims he played for Rovers for one season in 1965 but found the training exhausting. Well liked by the ladies including Jilly Cooper but never heard of him previously and there is a photo of him with Prince Charles winning the Coronation Cup at Windsor Park in 1979.. Anyway,so little happening that to see our team mentioned alongside the current Monarch must mean the planning permission is a formality!!!! |

Can't say I recall him in the first team. Maybe he was a reserve team Football Combination player?

There was a youngster with Rovers who gave up football for Polo. Maybe in the 80's.
