I get that Hugo. I bet during the Dunford era the club did knowingly employ a player with a wrap sheet. We just didnt know. These days everyone knows the ins and outs of everything, mainly due to social media but also access to online records. Yeah, that's possible. I didn't used to take much interest in the club outside of 3 to 4.45 once a week. The Internet has ruined football nearly as much as money has. the main problem in my mind is social media and the rise in chat forums... lol.... na chat forums are ok.... sometimes

Yes, that's what I said. That's why I doubt many people have actually stayed away from the club because of Barton if even I've been once! My point was many have said they have stayed away, but intriguing how a shot at promotion and some find a reason/excuse to return. Principles are often set aside nowadays for a big occasion. But everyone to their own. 👍🏾 Yeah, I can see how it looks. I'm nothing if not honest.

All clubs have had scumbag fans at one time or other but I don't think the Dunfords would have employed Barton, signed Brown or suggested there are no victims of domestic violence. Maybe I'm wrong and we've always been like this and I'm misremembering. Not that it makes it acceptable, but I think the victimless crime comment was some idiot in the PR team not understanding, rather than the club taking a stance on being pro-domestic abuse. Wael did say that is Barton was found guilt he’d be out, I think

It would be a nonsense to suggest he was anything other than popular, especially that day.

Any individual that is found guilty of any such offences will be dismissed immediately. I understand the concerns expressed by a number of you. "However, in line with the basic principles of British law, it is my view that you are innocent until proven guilty.

Wonder what changed to go from this stance to actively signing people who have plead guilty.

I will support his players but never him, that’s fine with me, the players need the support.

Still the team i support and I’ll hopefully still be supporting long after both JB’s have departed.

Saw this on twitter. A Statement From Her Game Too Her Game Too are aware of the signing of Jevani Brown by Bristol Rovers and the initial reaction to this news. As this is a live legal case, we are unable to comment on the matter. However, we can confirm that in due course, once the case has concluded, we will make a decision on what this means for our partnership with Bristol Rovers FC. We will remain in dialogue with the club throughout the process and provide further comment if required in due course. We will also continue to support the great work that goes on with Bristol Rovers Community Trust and the Gas Girls. 282406 #HERGAMETOO With Brown already having pleaded guilty to one charge , I should imagine HGT movement are probably someways towards making a decision on how to react to this situation. When I first started following the club, most of our players came through our youth set up , including some from South Wales , they were mixed with the best form local non league teams and experienced quality players from other league sides. It kept us in the 2nd tier for seven years and even when in the third tier we we often knocking on the promotion door. Shame we can't go back to that, in the last 20 years or so are recruitment seems to have gone down hill , we have signed some good players but also some crap, players who are crocks, unfit and over weight, have disciplinary issues and now one who will have like the manager a criminal record after July 6th since he has already pleaded guilty. Something needs to change.

Not having a go just wondering what the line is?

Maybe I'm wrong and we've always been like this and I'm misremembering. I'm afraid you and plenty of others are misremembering.
The club statement at the time was: "With regard to Manager Joey Barton’s court appearance by video link this morning, the Club has been informed that the matter is proceeding to trial and is therefore sub judicial.
Accordingly, the Club is unable to make any further comment other than to quote the Crown Prosecutor this morning who said “this is a victimless crime. No one has made a claim of assault”."
It is disingenuous to portray the club as suggesting there are no victims of domestic violence, which I think you know.
Wael had to issue an open letter of apology. In my opinion because people couldn't be bothered to read what was actually said.

Rovers whether we like it or not are miles behind our neighbours and others so you won’t see a lot of local lads coming through like years ago. I agree our recruiting has been hit or miss over the years but I’m quite excited on where Joey is taking us and you’ve only got to look at the attendance’s to say a lot of gas heads agree 🤷♂️

Last season we finished 17th Div 3. No visionary he, so far. My feeling is a lot of the increased gate is due to the matchday experience having been improved out of all recognition from just a few years ago. It's actually a good day out now.

When was it “your club”? When did you last get a say in what happens on the pitch? I was generally talking about being a family club of yester year but that has long gone never to return Yeah I remember those friendly and welcoming homophobic chants towards Brighton a few seasons back. Proper family club. I’ve seen our fans do absolutely awful things to people back in the day and in recent years also, mostly racist behaviour. I’ve even been punched by one of our own fans a few seasons ago just because I clapped us off after a home loss to Pompey after we got out the conference. At no point can anyone condone what JB has done if he is found guilty but this hoohaa about us being this diamond of a family club is absolute tosh.
