There is one thing that has been overlooked in the report it said the argument started with the doormen and then the women got involved. If the women hadn't got involved none of this would have happened I think there's a lot more to this than meets the eye. Have some of you also considered he may have just pleaded guilty under the advice of his solicitor to save the hassle, first offence etc. Everyone deserves a second chance surely or is that too much to ask from some people? He has a previous conviction for being drunk and disorderly.

Only a cautioned not convicted Ok thanks for the correction, a recorded offence but the pattern of drink related offending is there, lets hope for Jevani's kids sake he can change his lifestyle, I just wish that it was at another club and not in the West Country.

The amount of excuses people are making for him are embarrassing. The women weren’t on trial for hitting him. They weren’t on trial for the alleged racism. The bouncers weren’t on trial for the alleged encounter. JB was on trial for assault by beating and the only thing that matters are his actions. I assume most of you have daughters and would be absolutely fuming if a man spat and hit her in town regardless of her actions.

Would hope daughters don't get involved into a confrontation that is not of concern to them for their own safety

Who says I'm making excuses for him, please scroll through the thread and find where I said it was ok to spit and hit a woman (you won't) Not everything is black and white there are areas of grey all I was doing was highlighting some of these grey areas.

I'd also be fuming if a daughter of mine racially abused somebody (Brown clearly refers to this in his statement), and pulled somebody's dreadlocks (having long hair myself, I know that this can be painful). Not condoning what he did at all, just wondering if it is really okay for a woman to inflict pain without it being classed as some sort of assault?

He has a previous conviction for being drunk and disorderly. "This is defined as a person who in any public place is guilty of behaving in a disorderly manner whilst under the influence of alcohol. This means that the police can arrest you if they deem you to be creating a public disturbance whilst drunk, which they can determine with their own discretion."Having read the definition, I'm probably lucky not to have had a tug myself in the past. When under the influence, I think that I'm extremely funny, whereas the realilty is that I'm extremely annoying! In Mr Brown's case the police used their discretion to decided that it merited a caution - is that the same as one of those penalty notices telling you to remove yourself from the area?

Taking it back to the beginning, actions have consequences - maybe having his dreadlocks pulled was just as painful as him slapping the woman - both are wrong, yet should it be judged any differently because a female was the perpetrator?

Exactly Tilly the main focus seems to be on JBs actions and not the women's actions should they not be judged on their actions as well clearly not going by some people views and opinions. If you read the article it stated the JB told the women not to get involved yet they still decided to involve themselves

I think you're turning the facts of the case around as the suggestion yesterday was JB thought the girls were with the bouncers before he spat at them. If JB had used racism as a mitigating reason surely the magistrate had a duty to mention it when giving his sentence, or failing which he leaves it opened to be challenged.

I do however believe in rehabilitation as that is the best way to prevent further offending,if we are to be part of that process and it is successful then that is a worthwhile outcome . I do find it somewhat tiresome that many have a self righteous attitude to offenders as if they have never done anything wrong, the question I would ask is if we are not prepared to help this young man then who will and does that make us all feel we have the moral high ground There but for the grace........

Their actions, right or wrong at the end of the day have absolute nothing to do with Bristol Rovers - they do not nor never will represent us. You’re always told as a kid two wrongs don’t make a right so please explain why a 27 year old man has spat at and then assaulted not one but two women without saying “maybe they deserved it” which is essentially the excuses being put forward so far. Embarrassing that people are trying to justify it.

39 pages of opinion based on reports of the incident and/or reports of the trial/pleading and you’d think half our fanbase were there as eye witnesses!
The justice system has done its job, the bloke is here as our player, move on…although no doubt some won’t and this will descend into another raft of pages of opinion from people who weren’t there.
This forum never changes
