Voting so far suggests that nearly 60% of this gaschat fanbase predict that we will not get promoted this season. I feel that Joey and team will think that they can at least get promoted via the playoffs. For sure, if we end up champions - it will be pretty ground-breaking. Hope burns brightly here. Have you voted in this poll yet? I think we’ve got a chance of making the most offs ( as have every club in the division ) but once you get there it’s 4/1 so I can see why many like myself don’t think we’ll do it but as I said in an earlier post it’s way way too early to have a detailed and educated opinion because the transfer window still has a long way to go.

Can we step back and imagine this scenario?
Imagine the emotions that would surge within us if the gas, against all odds, clinched the league title. I know it seems to be a ground breaking thought, but stay with this dream.
I know many are initially expecting a just outside the play offs finish but we embark on this footballing journey with realism, respect for our rivals and not fearing the challenge ahead. Stay with this dream.
A vision of the future
As the season unfolded, our players showed unyielding relentless spirit and unwavering belief that surpassed all our expectations. With each victory, the gap closed, until the seemingly impossible became our reality. Bristol Rovers became the champions of league one. Stay with this dream.
I for one would be overwhelmed with a whirlwind of emotions, a tidal wave of euphoria tinged with disbelief as this seems so unlikely.
Pride would fill my heart for the players who embraced the ground breaking goal and through there own effort made this dream a reality.
This super fit and talented Bristol Rovers team, and the back room staff will have made this dream possible. So will the super support of our fans who have sung their hearts out.
The character, resilience, hard work, dedication and unwavering belief of our players would have put hope in the hearts of our fans as the season progressed.
At the end of the season, we would experience overwhelming joy, immeasurable pride, of the spirit that resides within our club and in the dressing room.
We have a dressing room of winners who aim high, for sure. Players who choose to be relentless in their persuit of stepping out of their own shade into the sunshine.
We are super professional these days with lots to be proud of. This I feel is our moment. Another season where this Bristol Rovers defy the odds and surprise us again.
This team will be known as the ground-breakers.

Is it just me who doesn't like the use of "ground breaking" for these polls? People have won the league before, even Rovers. It aint new. I'll put my pedant hat away now, carry on.

You are absolutely right that it’s been done before. Supporters of Luton who have gone from conference to premiership think it’s pretty groundbreaking, Leicester fans thought it was pretty groundbreaking when they won the premiership. Brighton fans are amazed at where they are now. They have all been groundbreakers. Rovers can be as well. 97 gaschat voters on this poll and only 8 think we will be champions. Clearly many think we will not do it. When we do it will be ground breaking as so many think it’s impossible. Just great to think that it’s more than possible. The dressing room will think that it is possible. A few more Melksham results and more will be on this journey.

Would love to see us mount a serious challenge - could be possible if we bring in three or four more Championship level signings....
We need another CB for sure - Connolly is not the answer and cannot be babysat every game.
In addition - A Midfield playmaker/ A defensive play breaker / An effective left back and a Keeper.
Would love to see Lamarre Bogarde back and Garang Kuol who is a young Newcastle striker - would take Bobby Thomas as well to play alongside James Wilson.
Think we need to jettison some of the weight as well - Loft and three or four others potentially.

I don't think this squad is stronger than last season's group at this moment in time and therefore I'd be happy with a similar finish to last season at the moment.
That being said, with a few more incomings I could see us being a top 10/fringe playoff team.
Still waiting to see if any of our more important players get pinched first.

Not sure I agree we arent stronger. Need bodies in the squad and some quality additions. but Wilson > Quansah Thomas > Anderson (or as good) Brown > Coburn (diff position granted) Plus we have key personnel in Ward and Collins still here, plus Grant back fit. Hopefully Rossiter too. Need an equivalent or improvement on Bogarde tho and then I would say we are well ahead. Top 10 minimum should be our aim

Why on earth would anybody want Thomas to return when is departure last season was hardly on good terms? He was first class at Barnsley - thought he was way better than Quansah also. He left because JB started blaming everyone for our awful defence effort - yes he left suddenly but wouldn't have blamed him wanting to play for a superb manager like Duff and would have him alongside Wilson all day long. Sadly I think it will be Quansah that returns.

What makes you think all the stuff you say above doesn't apply to every other club? Or, since you ask it of the fans and not the players, the fans of every other club? Since what their fans and their players think and feel and how they react are out of our control, how can self belief in itself beat opponents if they also have that belief? Or do we have more self belief than others? And if so, why is that?

Or do we have more self belief than others? And if so, why is that? "Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my musings. You raise some valid points regarding self-belief, motivation, and hope applying to every other club and their fans as well. It's true that these attributes can be found in supporters and players across various teams. Certainly in the successful ones. While self-belief alone may not guarantee victory when both teams possess it, it does play a crucial role in shaping mindset and ground-breaking performance. Self-belief can empower players and individuals to overcome challenges, push their limits, and maintain a positive outlook even in difficult times. It serves as a driving force that inspires dedication, resilience, and determination. When we talk about having more self-belief than others, it's not necessarily about comparing it directly to the belief of fans or players of other clubs. Rather, it's about fostering an environment within our own club that cultivates a strong sense of belief and confidence in our collective abilities. I think fans make a huge difference to the success of a football club. This belief can stem from a variety of factors, such as historical successes, strong team culture, exceptional leadership, or even the unwavering support of passionate fans. There is a good attitude these days around our club. Ultimately, self-belief acts as a foundation for achieving success, but it's important to acknowledge that it's just one piece of the puzzle. Talented players, strategy, teamwork, and other factors also contribute to a team's performance. While we cannot control what other clubs or their fans believe, we can focus on nurturing our own self-belief and using it as a driving force to strive for ground breaking performance. It's through this unwavering self-belief that we can inspire our players, unite our fans, and create an atmosphere that sets us apart. So, let us both continue to support our team with passion and embrace the power of self-belief, knowing that it can be a potent force in shaping our journey towards success. Like you, i am looking forward to this season.

Good people of gaschat have said that Wael and Joey have already said in separate interviews that the playoffs are the target. Exciting times.
