JB's probably on the phone to Villa asking now them what Saints are offering for Bogarde as we'll meet their offer and add 10%!!

I think we still need a ball winner / holding midfielder and a quick winger / inside forward. Don’t get me wrong our squad is shaping up great but we still lack pace / width and someone who can control midfield like Whelan / Coutts/ Rossiter do when they played.

I wonder if Crama could be considered to play slightly further forward at holding midfield?

I do accept that we need a holding midfield player and agree that Crama could do a job there . His footballing cv describes him as a centre half or defensive midfielder and maybe he is the answer until Grant is back. The reality is that every team at our level is going to be concerned about percieved weaknesses at certain positions.

Struggling to understand your point on needing a pacey winger/forward? Luke Thomas, Scott Sinclair, Aaron Collins?

A young loan in this position would be ideal. I think Finley could do a job as a DCM. I think last year proved his box to box days are over. Would love to see Bogarde back here tbh, that kid was class last year and so calm in the middle.

[ Yeah but with 2 in each line up if one gets injured then we have no player of that type on the bench / to switch with and would lack pace and width going forward. Teams lacking pace and width are generally poor to watch and don’t get results - see us from Christmas onwards.

The reality is that every team at our level is going to be concerned about percieved weaknesses at certain positions. I don’t mean strikers I mean players who start wide and get down the line or cut inside, like Thomas for example, I’m glad we’ve signed him but think another is needed. We need to be able to stretch the play to open teams up bevause the way we play we’ll be too easy to defend against if we don’t.
