As the club are in serious trouble yet again and Kevin Maher left Rovers on good terms, why not get some of the youngsters to go on loan there?
I am sure Ward and Jones would want to at least play at that level.
I now others on here would know more than me about the rules of clubs with transfer embargoes ( does that include loans?).
I am sure that sometimes clubs don't have to pay any money for loans, so in my mind, if they don't get loan deals sorted with league two clubs, it would seem a decent fit.
I would expect Southend to struggle despite the fantastic job Maher has done there with extreme limited resources.
Surely Rovers would prefer a young keeper and defender to be tested rather than having a walk in the park and it would be a major experience for the lads of trying to play football in front of decent crowds with lots of "outside noise" re the clubs survival.

I assume Rovers will decide on footballing grounds which is the best destination for players like Ward and Jones not on sentimental grounds?
Although I doubt any of the present structure in control of the football side of the club have ever worked with Maher.

Always good to see an ex Gas doing well.
Considering the game was only officially on from Tuesday after fans helped out to ensure the stadium got a safety certificate (memories of our own broom army at both Twerton and the Mem), Kevin Maher's 13 man squad (couldnt get near to filling the bench) thrashed Oldham 4-0 despite them splashing some decent cash at that level.

The fans have been at "war" with the owners for sometime. Heartbreaking to see the photos showing the state of the ground, only needs one wrong turn and many clubs could find themselves in that position further down the line.

I also noticed Shaun North, who was Assistant Manager under Buckle, McGhee and John Ward is now Portsmouths Kitman

Despite the points deduction, no money and a incredibly small squad, what a great job Maher is doing.
A well organised team, scoring goals, great relationship with fans and great dignity in what most be very trying circumstances.
Still think Rovers would benefit if Jones went there, even if we paid all his wages.

I also noticed Shaun North, who was Assistant Manager under Buckle, McGhee and John Ward is now Portsmouths Kitman Big Kev retired as kitman then. Read a few things about him, as an amateur boxer, piling into a player or too in the past with a couple of quick, decisive punches.

I'd rather Southend were in the Football league as opposed to Stevenage, Morecombe, Fleetwood or FGR
