One more pre-season friendly remains. Will we be able to enjoy the fixture on the Fun Day?
Chesterfield are due at The Home of Bristol Football for a 1300 hours kick off.
Chesterfield have been made hot favourites for promotion from the National League in 2023/24.
They had a great season in 2022/23 and narrowly lost to Notts County in the National League play off final.
Their pre-season has been very tough after an easy opening.
They will be a stern test this Saturday.
Their pre-season results to date are:
04/07/23 Matlock Town 0 - 9 Chesterfield
Scorers: L. Mandeville(2), W.Grigg(2), A. White, A.Dobra(2), A. Trialist, R. Colclough.
08/07/23 Alfreton Town 1 - 5 Chesterfield
Scorers: L. Maguire, A. Dobra, W. Grigg(pen), J. Quigley (2).
11/07/23 Chesterfield 1 - 2 Sheffield Wednesday
Scorer: J. King.
15/07/23 Chesterfield 0 - 2 Sheffield United
19/07/23 Chesterfield 0 - 1 Derby County
22/07/23 Accrington Stanley 2 - 3 Chesterfield.
Scorers: O. Banks(pen), A. Dobra, R. Colclough.
29/07/23 Bristol Rovers 13 : 00 Chesterfield
01/08/23 Basford United 19 : 45 Chesterfield
We will need to perform well if we are to end our 2023/24 club friendlies with a decent result.

MATCH REPORT FROM LAST FIXTURE
(From a Spireites point of view)
The Spireites won 3-2 at Accrington Stanley in their penultimate pre-season fixture.
Ollie Banks (pen), Armando Dobra and Ryan Colclough scored the goals as Chesterfield took a three-goal lead inside 24 minutes.
Banks (9) opened the scoring from the spot after Ryan Colclough was brought down inside the area.
Dobra (21) made it 2-0, firing into the top corner of the net after being out through by Joe Quigley.
Colclough added a third three minutes later, receiving a fine pass from Tom Naylor before taking one touch and finding the corner of the net.
The hosts then pulled a goal back through Nolan before the break and scored a second in the 68th minute.
It was an impressive performance from the Spireites against League Two opposition.
Spireites: Tyrer (trialist 60); King (Sheckleford 70), Williams (Wilkinson 78), Grimes (Maguire 78), Horton (Clements 70); Naylor (Jones 65), Banks (Oldaker 65); Mandeville (Uchegbulam 70), Dobra (Hobson 70), Colclough (trialist 60), Quigley (Curtis, 78).

i see that they played a trailist in goal as they are struggling to find an experienced goalie. They are 26 miles from Nottingham. Wonder if we know anyone who might fit the bill

I reckon Belly will be out the door now with the arrival of Matt Hall and if I was a betting man I'd put a few quid on his next destination being Notts County.

If Belly goes and 1st choice is injured what happens? Can't recall Ward for a coupe of games. Youth player on bench?

The emergency loan can only come in if he plays and the reserve has no experience, therefore new keeper will be on bench every week. Was a report about this somewhere a couple of weeks ago about keepers never playing.

Thought county have already signed another keeper alongside slocombe who has extended his contract?

You are correct and probably a youth player on the bench or maybe look to sign a free agent on a short term basis?

Thought county have already signed another keeper alongside slocombe who has extended his contract? I forgot they signed Aidan Stone and he's a decent signing for County in fairness. A move to Chesterfield wouldn't necessarily be a bad one for Belly as they should be clear favourites for the title this season, although I'm sure he would be reluctant to step down two levels considering how well he performed in League Two previously.

Surely Hall just stays on the bench and the emergency goalie goes straight into the starting 11, Hall can never play as if he does then it stops the club bringing in an emergency keeper as the FA will say he has experience!! Problem for Hall is in a season or two he still has no experience.

Won their 3 away games and lost the 3 home games (different quality opposition granted) before today. Nice to take their 100% record though.
