Seems the Cumbrians had some disorder at home for the first game of the season against Fleetwood, 10,000 in the house, ref had to pause the match twice due to missiles being thrown from behind the goal. The top brass have suspended ticket sales for the next two league games, in what is basically their Thatchers End. Quite the statement! www.carlisleunited.co.uk/news/2023/august/club-crowd-disorder/Appreciate its League One chat at best and not Gas chat, but no one reads the general section & thought the strong words and actions of their Chief Exec were of interest.

Is there any other area of everyday life where an object (even a rolled up piece of paper) that once thrown suddenly becomes “a missile”?

Noticed that something was thrown at Luke Thomas during his goal celebration at Fratton Park. But before getting on the high horse, we had a few similar incidents of our own toward the end of last season. A growing trend?

I think footballers celebrating provocatively in front of opposition fans deserve a couple of misses. It’s unsportsmanly and I dislike it. I think it’s fair dos to receive a pasty or a near empty bottle of water to the bonce. It can also be cured immediately by not acting like a spiteful knob. Luke is one of many but I don’t like the practice generally.

I don't agree that they deserve to have things thrown at them. Let's kick the animals and their sh** behaviour out of football (and yes, I do include players in that statement).

No excuse what so ever! Throw something on the pitch, get banned!
Yes we all live to chant etc but never throw anything on the pitch!
You are always going to get some players going over the top! But as fans I can guarantee that it will be the player that the fans have provoked! So what do you expect?

I’ve always loved it when opposing players give a bit back to the fans , if I recall I think it was Aden Flint last season , he was getting dogs abuse all night ( which I also enjoyed and participated in ) and when he was walking off at full time shushing us all I thought it was great, he also rightly so got a few stale pasties chucked at him , with some of those crusts mind he’d end up in intensive care 😂

I suppose if the crowd are picking on one player then there’s an element of justificarion, but that’s not how it works usually is it? Generally any player regardless of what they crowds done is doing this, and it’s basically “I want to look big and hard in front of my mates” One day the crowd will come and smack them up and they’ll be playing victim. They are young men on really good money, idolised by a lot of people living a very good lifestyle and for kicks they go to wind up people working on forklifts for a living. It rubs me up wrong.

I mean there have already been instances where players have been assaulted for the mere crime of beating their team Dont understand why fans get so wound up about an opposition fan celebrating. Fans can dish it out all game, but some cant take a little back. Dont get me wrong there are instances like Rooney last year where he was just being a complete prick, without him even getting any stick, but in general some of the snowflakes in the crowd need to toughen up a bit and stop crying about their hurty feelings

A serious crowd event is coming due to this, and the solution will be to either try to stop crowds jeering people or saying to players “Look, you’re at work, you earn loads more money than these people ever will, just try to be professional”

Do fans should behave professional? Or just players? Or is that the matter of how much you earn or what you do for living?

Fans can't justify any offences just because an opposition player cupped his ear at the fans. The court won't care about any of that when they are banning someone from every ground in the country or throwing you in prison for a few weeks perpetually angered fans over nothing (and most likely fuelled by Booze and or drugs) need to take responsibility for themselves whatever the rights and wrongs of what a 'professional' player does Adebayor for Instance (to me at least) is a great celebration. Of course it antagonised some fans, but that is part of the game and everyone should play their part in the pantomime. Boo, hiss, give a rude gesture if necessary but accept it. As always it's the few that spoil it for the many. Some people take football way to serious, especially in this day and age where it's more detached from the fans then ever

Do fans should behave professional? Or just players? Or is that the matter of how much you earn or what you do for living? It’s a matter of whether you’re at work. You don’t have an expectation to act professional when you’re not engaged in a profession.

Madness.
