My daughter is over from Australia with her partner/boyfriend for a couple of weeks and I was thinking of taking them to the Charlton game as we can't make the home match this weekend. They have manged to blag a couple of tickets for West Ham v Chelsea from our local pub landlord where my daughter used to work, but I'd like them to see some real football too! I've not been to Charlton before so was wondering whether anyone can advise on parking near the ground, or maybe parking and then using the rail network for a couple of stops? If we do go we would be travelling up from West Sussex on the day. Thanks

Train to London Bridge, then train to Charlton, about three stops. Get off train out of station turn right over bridge and first left. End of road turn right away end is there, pay on day. Good night out, maybe see you there as I live in East Grinstead, and will be going myself. Good luck Harold.

Thanks Harold My concern about train all the way is getting home back to near the south coast - especially with the amount of added time we are now going to be seeing. Might look at driving to Three Bridges or similar where there is parking and a return train is likely to be OK until quite late.
Edit - is the game definitely pay on the day?

Drive to underground station near Heathrow and park - or download an app and find parking on someones drive, then tube and bus it to the Valley. Citymapper is a brilliant app for transport, takes all the stress out of it. There are many parking apps, of which I find yourparkingspace very good.

Anyone getting the train from Bristol? Looks like a bit of a rush back across London to get to Paddington on time!

Charlton is mostly pay on the day, big away end there. Lots of places to park in Three Bridges as well. Good luck.

I'd suggest drive to Slough & park in the multi story by the station, Elizabeth Line to Abbey Wood, ThamesLink to Charlton.

However you get there try to have a swift half in the Anchor and Hope. Nice old pub by the Thames, 15 mins walk from the ground with great views of the rapidly developing East End of the city across the water.
