ONE MARVELLOUS FIRST TEAM DEBUT
The season ahead looks very promising. When two very competent and experienced players have the lowest rating the future is encouraging.
Imagine how the scoreline might have looked if Sam Finley was totally match fit and Aaron Collins was playing without that monkey on his shoulder.
A special mention to John Marquis. The only reason he was not the indisputable MOTM was because he failed to score. Luck was not on his side. He needs to be a starter whenever fit.

Cox 7 decent and confident Hoole 6 ok but a question mark on the Barnsley goal Crama 8.5 Wow,what a home debut !!! Taylor 8 welcome home Connor, oh how we've missed you !! Gordon 7 he seems bigger and stronger than last year. Finley 6 not at his best. Ward 7.5 hardworking and reliable,as always Thomas 8.5 ran Barnsley ragged Evans 9 m.o.m totally superb ,he controlled the midfield,the best player on the pitch Collins 6 nothing went his way, just one of those games ! Marquis 8 led the line well,he could have had at least two goals, he must start games. Subs: Sinclair 7 he helped change the game ,showed his class. Grant 7 it was really good to seem him back,lets hope he can stay fit Loft n.o.l.e Mccormick n.o.l.e. Ref 8 excellent Barnsley 7 a good side with obvious quality. |

Cox 6 could possibly do better.
Hoole 6 partially at fault by not blocking a shot or cross all day.
Crama 8.5 jm o m excellent home debut. Cole who?
Taylor 8.5 jm o m excellent to see you back home from home debut as our player....you have a great start on becoming a true Gas legend!
Gordon 6 still not convinced with sideways and back.
Finley 5.5 poor not at the races.
Ward 7.5 decent.
Thomas 8 excellent with an assist now with a goal in 2 goals we've scored.
Evans 8 almost hat trick of assists, back to what we know he can do....keep playing him in advanced position.
Collins 7 sulky git but looked the business after the subs when he was more central.
Marquis 8 great weighted assist for AC miss, but he followed suit 3 times and even hit the bar!

Grant 7.5 really got our left shored up and looks more the business these days.

Ref 8.5 that's 2 very good reds in 2 matches, he was fair and didn't get anything wrong.
Barnsley 7.5 they will be there or thereabouts in top 6 at end of season and we more than gave them a game. You can tell with their ruthless finish, they were prepared to take us to task, but after 15 mins we got our stuff together and pretty much dominated the match.
Well done Mangan. Subs could've been slightly earlier if being picky, but what an entertaining match, playing some easy in the eye football and almost won it. Barnsley know we're in the mix if we can continue this good form and that's two respectable, credible draws against teams that have hit combined 11 goals in 2 matches.
Have we turned a very big defensive corner?
