There's more to the story than that.
After Eastville, the clock somehow ended up in the Spinner Pub on Newfoundland Road. It was found by then BRSC members needing restoration and the pub had long since fitted a different clock face including the pub name printed on it! That needed restoration too.
Getting it from the pub, getting it restored and then fitted above the then Blackthorn End took a lot of time, effort and money, plus I understand that if they had not acted as soon as they did, it may have been scrapped and never to be seen again.
It's a bit of a miracle that it's there now.
