With the squad we have now, surely we can give this a real good go.

I see it starts this week but our first game isn't for another couple of weeks.
In my opinion, these games should still be used to give the other squad players a game who haven't played much league football yet.

I agree, but now that our squad is stronger, than that team should still be half decent.

Nice re aquaintance with GC in November .....thats presuming he doesn't up and leave sunny south Wales for Yorkshire! Don't have a problem with GC. He always seemed like a straightforward bloke, and knew that he wasn't part of the board's long term vision, so I don't blame him for heading to pastures new. It was probably better to give the "missing home" reason, rather than saying "I know that the board don't rate me". I did find his style of football boring though.

Six out of the last ten winners all went on and played in the championship. Never all stayed there mind. But if we boycott the u21 teams and back the other games then we could be on for a good run in it. It should be in our plans to win it as we also climb into the championship 🏆 UTG

I'm wondering whether there's a case for putting a different spin on the inclusion of PL U21 teams in the competition. In that, the games against EFL teams actually gives league 1 and 2 clubs a chance to gauge whether any of the players featured are up for the challenge of league football and worth a loan. Likewise, the PL clubs get a better idea which of their players are ready to go out on loan.
Let's to he honest, none of the U21 teams have got close to getting to the final and personally can't see that they will.
I'm sure our preseason game vs Brentford B laid the foundations for the two lads we took from them, not sure that would've happened without the game against them.

We were flying up the league, winning most games, yet the crowd stayed around 6,500 to 7,000. And we still had 4 sides to the ground at the time... It proved that winning isn't everything as I can recall comments about how our crowds would be massive if we were winning regularly - we were and the crowd figures stayed medium to low!

Boring football or not ,he left us in our best position since promotion with DC ,and a cracking win at Portman road . There is probably muliple reasons he went ,one being the personal abuse his family recieved , albiet most likely one idiot. For some that's enough . Always have good memories , but what a kick in the gut that statement was after that Ipswich win ,and I thought ' isn't that just Rovers! '

' Something in the back of my mind was someone was very abusive to his daughter on Twitter, something about death threats. He came out and said you can abuse me as I can take it but not my family, leave my daughter out of it. Honestly can’t blame him for departing but the timing wasn’t the best, but with Christmas being a few weeks on from that match he probably did want to be closer to home and spend Christmas with them and have a cooked Christmas dinner that he didn’t have to rush because he had a match on Boxing Day. He was able to spend Christmas and New year at home and have a decent amount of time with his family without having to cut it short and travel to Bristol from the East Midlands.

Success breeds success - a good run in the Trophy could spill over into the league. Certainly did in 2007, kick started the run to promotion That little period from the FL trophy final to the play off final was my favorite time following Rovers. I think after that final we only dropped points on one occasion, winning all the other games, we were unstoppable! EDIT: I've just looked, we played ten more matches after that final, winning eight and drawing two!

I thought that, went to the wire at Hartlepool, then away leg at Lincoln and Igoe in the last minute at Wembley, but then there was Dagenham and Lee Brown, would we ever see the like? 2022/23, 'hold my beer', we'll all remember the Magnificent Seven v Scunny but the week before at Rochdale made it. What is it with Rovers, every promotion I remember has been amazing, they all have had an amazing story, even back to 2nd May 1990, we just don't do normal promotion!

The Megson promotion season was pretty special as well as we went for such a long undefeated run and included our 8-2 thrashing of Brian Clough's Brighton.
