As both Cheltenham and us have our games postponed on 9 Sept, could we rearrange our game against Cheltenham to that day?
Sure JB would prefer having a Saturday game to a Tuesday evening to spread out our fixtures.

That has definitely happened in the past.
With a kid a quid offer, I'm sure the Saturday attendance would probably triple what they would expect for a midweek.

Why don't we play a premier ship teams kids while we're at it?
Up until now (because I'm sure there's a smart one out there) we've played a few years continuously in this format teams, that have played their u21 players, and I can't remember one single post on this forum at a later date saying he went on to come good...
Boycott the whole thing!

Boycott the whole thing! I'm guessing that most of the recent Euro U21 winning squad made their club debuts in the Pizza Trophy? EA certainly did and he's doing OK for himself. We've also just signed two Brentford's youngsters after playing their DS team.

If you have boycotted 17 EFL trophy games, when will the penny drop? They aren't going to change the format after game 18, that's for sure.
You and I and Bristol Rovers are insignificant to the powers that be.
Tom has said no one (CEO/chairman wise) in the EFL wants a B side league. The fans don't want it but if the Prem big boys pay enough for it to happen, then it will happen.
The only losers short term is he club as it costs the club money to play these floodlit games in a near empty ground.
Hopefully Cheltenham is played on the Saturday and we get 3-4 thousand to support the club and give encouragement to the young uns, if the likes of Jones, Lawrence and Hall are playing.

Look I know we’ve had our differences in the past but this has probably been the most sensible post you’ve ever done! Completely agree.

Your post is just endorsing your own rhetoric. There are other ways to help fund the club, not the efl apart from attending which the efl get a cut from. If we take the approach you suggest, it will mean a complete capitulation. That's obviously what some want, but there's a huge number of fans and clubs that don't want this format and any form of protest peacefully is welcome. It's laughable that attendances aren't even published willingly by some clubs as it's obvious the boycott does work - country wide - we never saw these attendances before.

Didn't Rice play at the Mem? Correct, as did Ben Johnson who has gone on to have a very decent career in the hammers first team squad So.... apart from Uncle Ben's rice, how many hundreds have featured in squads that have just dissipated? And no one posted that before..

Thing is, I don’t think a principled boycott on the competition exists anymore. Not a lot of people are staying away solely out of the fear of B sides being introduced to senior football.
The small crowds account for the general apathy most supporters feel to the format and the way the clubs treat the competition these days.
A group stage game against an U21 side just doesn’t get the juices flowing. A regionalised game against a weakened league two side doesn’t either, especially when both clubs are using it for fitness.
Back when the competition was more interesting and well attended, it was a straight knockout affair with stronger sides put out. No U21 sides and perhaps your only chance to get to Wembley.
Bring those days back.

Bring those days back. I think there are still quite a few that are principled. Certainly across the country. You can factor into that cost if living etc. Your pint taken though. Strange...I remember when we played at Yate in reserve combination league in 90s and we drew some proportionately big crowds v Tottenham etc that were mostly their kids on verge of breakthrough..

I know we don’t like changing a winning side, especially defence, but playing the U21s seems like a great opportunity to get minutes into some of the youngsters. I’d go: Belly Hoole Connolly Crama Gordon Bogarde Finley Thomas McCormick Sinclair Brown

Never one to underestimate momentum and a little winning run, let’s stick it to the junior irons & go into Wigan with 3 wins on the trot.
