Totally unconvinced that is, as a league 1 club, paying good money for a player then after one season loaning him out, is good business. Premier League, perhaps. But a club without a pot to water in and losing £3M a year, that's water poor business😈

Best of luck Beefy, look forward to him returning with more experience under his belt. Still think he'll do well for Rovers in the future.

Saw it coming, the only surprise is the club he has gone to. I thought he would drop to L2 but one of the bigger ones vying for promotion. if he is a Merseyside lad then it will be closer to home. His folks were at the Portsmouth game so they had a good trek every week just to watch him on the bench. Gives him a chance to make a name for himself in a more traditional style of football Given he's played for Wales I assume Cardiff were his local club? Surprised he's dropped down to L2, even if he did seem to struggle in L1 last season.

Good luck Jimmy boy. Not good enough yet for league 1, so hopefully he'll get the experience he needs to develop.

Couldn't find his place of birth, but given his accent and that his first club was for Blackburn as a U18, i'd suggest Morecambe is much closer to home

Good luck James. At Pompey he played well and although sometimes played into trouble with the tippy-tappy passing at the back he always showed composure and got out of trouble. Trouble all came from the other side that day. So I was surprised he’s been only a bit-part since although having been substituted that day before they equalised I shouldn’t be. Not sure about this decision. But at least it will give him game time and hope he comes back next season better and ready to play a big part in playing for us, not someone else.
UTG!

Apart from ex Academy players how many Rovers players come back from loan spells a better player, most never return?

Struggling now.

But a club without a pot to water in and losing £3M a year, that's water poor business😈 Took a gamble on him at 100k (?) as a young prospect . He played in a promotion winning side . Which pretty much pays off his transfer fee in my book. He isn’t quite up to the higher standard now so we loan him out . Guessing we’re probably still paying half his salary? Still an asset on which we may get back at least half of the fee we paid . So all in all not that bad business all things considered.

Indeed Or only when they are with us for 6 to 12 months? It's all very well commentating from the sidelines, but when these decisions are burning £3M a year...well

Struggling now. Wasn't Ellis injured almost as soon as he joined Hartlepool? Although perhaps the shock of playing for them, even briefly, did the trick.
