I think that we should of kept him. Wilson and Taylor do not really play on the left. Crama and Beefy can play both sides. Think that he would be the best deputy for Crama and would be good with Wilson or Taylor alongside him.

Would have preferred he stayed but understand how a season playing regularly would help his development.
Good luck and hope you come back better and stronger next season.

But Oldie JB is renowned for developing youngsters. Maybe only when they are other clubs players? It's a bit odd he can't seem to develop any of our own youngsters, Loft, Connolly & McM have all flopped, and you do now wonder what's going on with Hoole, Gordon and even Taylor. Could add Jed Ward to the list. Ward, Hall and Cox are the same age with the loan player going straight in. Jones and Greenslade to add.

Good luck James. At Pompey he played well and although sometimes played into trouble with the tippy-tappy passing at the back he always showed composure and got out of trouble. Trouble all came from the other side that day. So I was surprised he’s been only a bit-part since although having been substituted that day before they equalised I shouldn’t be. Not sure about this decision. But at least it will give him game time and hope he comes back next season better and ready to play a big part in playing for us, not someone else.UTG! Apart from ex Academy players how many Rovers players come back from loan spells a better player, most never return? But that has got to be the intention hasn’t it? We paid money for him, he’s an experienced defender who’s versatile and plays with a good deal of composure and goes under the radar imo. I would have liked to see him gain from Wilson’s experience. Of course you maybe right, a great season for us and with Taylor, Wilson and Crama likely to have played well it may well be the last we see of him but I hope we see him again. I may be lucky but I’ve not seen him have a bad game for us so I’m genuinely surprised by this development. UTG!

I've no idea what the intention is but thinking about it I'm not sure how playing regular L2 football will help him in L1, he's not like a striker who needs to get his confidence back by scoring regularly again.

Topper, if you’re unsure about how playing regular football, albeit in a lower league, is going to help him or any player play for BRFC then why do you think we loan out any players if it’s not for that intention?
UTG!

Played the whole game today and kept a clean sheet against a good Salford forward line!

Played the whole game today and kept a clean sheet against a good Salford forward line! It's strange how we get the successful CT & Connolly partnership back together then send one of them out on loan, and keep the other one on the bench, that's the best part of £500K spent on two players who can't even make the starting 11, make it £750K if you include McM

I havent been convinced by Wilson but he was better today so cant really drop either CB but could go 3 at the back?

Both Connolly and Taylor must be disappointed. Taylor gone from Stokes bench to ours.

Rumour has it Connolly was class today As a club what are we really gaining developing Crama over Connolly, perhaps JB is more concerned about raising his own profile than the club's?

I just think Crama gives you the immediate improvement and given the fact we want to hit play offs, possibly can't wait for development... Ps I know it hasn't worked out like that so far

Wilson was brought straight back into the starting eleven after injury, we conceded two and lost. Would have been better to stick with Taylor although I can see the thinking behind Wilsons selection after loosing to Cambridge. As for Connolly, most players we send out on loan (other than youngsters) are normally then deemed surplus to requirements. I would like to think this case is different. He is still young and he will only make the bench if one of our three first choice CB's gets injured or suspended so it makes sense for his development to give him a full season playing every week. The only problem will be in one defender gets a long term injury. Normally with season long loans you cannot recall the player. __PRESENT

I think it's a balance with players like Beefy, he can gain valuable experience from the more experienced members of the squad here but wouldn't play... But going to a club lower down would ensure he plays and can do the learn on the job for the bits he needs. I think overall a good move for him and he'll do well
