Less a weak link, just don’t play him with 2 other holding/defensive minded midfielders.
Chuck him in with Evans/Woods, Bogarde/Evans, Macca/Woods, Macca & Bogarde, you’ll see the best of Finley.

Happy for him to prove this wrong, but my impression is that much as you can't fault his application and commitment in matches, we now have better players for his position. Good squad player tho, but this does all draw question marks over captaincy

Finley is a very good player, he’s the only one with an ounce of Aggression which I think can all agree is needed at times Agression doesn't make up for his lack of quality when need in this division.
Once Rossiter comes back into the fold, he's done.

Sadly, I have to agree with the OP opinion. Finley has looked poor, I noticed how much he struggled at home vs Chesterfield in that friendly, a NL side. Showing his natural footballing ability level just isn't up to this standard. Great leader, great guy, great pitbull but not got the passing or vision at this level.

I had a similar conversation with Elon Musk about Finley when he was resetting my twitter password, great guy... "When I was chatting to DC..." come on, you were talking to God?! My instinctive reaction is to wince a bit when g81 names the important people he's been speaking to, like Wael, TG and DC, but on reflection I think it's refreshing. He comes straight out and names his sources instead of pussyfooting around and saying things like 'someone I can't name but who is close to the situation'. This sort of comment proves you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I don’t post names to have any form of superiority over anyone else, all of these people will talk to any fan, and I’m just any fan really and unless I’m told something confidential, there’s no risk in sharing imo. I was incredibly lucky and fortunate to have DC in our box at the Barnsley game. I’ve sat next to loads of managers and coaches in the past, some engage, some don’t but DC was brilliant and he’s a lovely bloke to go with it. He spoke some brilliant tactics and knowledge for 90mins and it felt like an inside line into proper football in game management. The bloke is a legend. |
