Wrexham away, either 94 or 95. Snow everywhere, halfway to the game on the rovers coach.

After 1979 when my Dads job took the family to Surrey every match for me was an away game. Can't remember the year (but prior to 2007 when I moved to France) I remember ringing the club mid afternoon to enquire if the evening game was on as it had been lashing down all day in London. No problem I was told. Left work to drive 120miles to the Mem. When I arrived it was in darkness. Asked a guy what had happened only to be told match postponed due to rain. Got back in the car and drove 120 miles home. I think the game was against Wycombe.

I remember going to Plymouth away in the late 80s or early 90s. Can’t remember which year but the game was called of because of fog so we went onto Torquay and watched them play. Don’t remember the opposition or the result (maybe a few shandies had been consumed😂😂😂) but there were a lot of blue and white quartered shirts at the game and we gave torquay one of their bigger attendances that season.

www.bbc.com/sport/football/66778293I was at Wigan away when the match was called off before a ball was kicked at around 2.45pm. Some stormed their stands in protest.. I was also at Leyton Orient, it was probably just Orient in those days, and Bradford (we had just got into the bit of road leading to the stadium) that were both called off close to kick off because of frozen pitches/snow in 90s. Anyone done an away abandonment? Hartlepool at home doesn't count. Nor does the extra watering of our pitch gate that wound mad dog up! Wycombe lightning is all I can think of...? I was at that game. The ref came out in his raincoat and wellies to check the pitch while the players were warming up if I remember correctly. The fans stormed the ticket box because Wigan would only originally give a ticket to the re-arranged match, which would have been midweek, instead of the money back. I think the Rover’s manager at the time, possibly Gerry Francis, came around to calm everyone down. We got our money back eventually. Was once driving to York City to watch us play, battling through snowstorms as the game was still on. Then, just as we were entering the town, it came over the radio that the game was cancelled. Pitch was ok but they were concerned about the slippery terraces.

I think Mr Dunford tried to quell the situation too....but fair play to solidarity as loads filled their stand and sung until someone was going to do something about it... Crazy calling it off so close to kick off.
