Many of you know Ash Belsten, founder of the Memorial Match where he personally has raised thousands for charity. On the 6th of September Ash’s stepfather David unexpectedly passed away. The family is devastated and sadly David never had any health or life insurance to cover things such as funeral costs. Ash is due to get married in a couple of weeks and is doing his best to support the whole family both emotionally and financially, even going to lengths as selling experiences he had purchased in advance as part of his wedding to help ease the financial burden. To add to the pressure, his mums employers are not willing to offer much by way of compassionate leave to not only give her the opportunity to make all necessary arrangements, but also to come to terms with and grieve as any person who loses a partner needs to. A go fund me page has been set up in memory of David Smith, and if anyone can contribute something, it would be very much appreciated. Ash has created and supported so many causes himself through the years it would be lovely if this once we could all return the favour and support him and his family in their hour of need. Thank you for the donation notification, I have only recently been chatting to Ash online about his wedding. Thoughts are with him and his family at such a sad time.

Yes thanks for posting. I don't think i've ever met Ash, but have always seen the good things he does and he deserves our support at this awful time.

Just giving this a bump - Ash is very deserving of support. Not only for the money he raised for good causes via the Legends games, which he organised, but also for the enjoyment which it gave to all of us who attended the games, to be able to see some Rovers' greats in action again.

Could his mum go to a GP for a sick note?

Could his mum go to a GP for a sick note? She will only get SSP after 3 days off, which as we know, covers next to nothing.

SSP is nearly £110 per week.

SSP is nearly £110 per week. Which won’t even cover half of a months rent for most. I couldn’t live on £400 a month when I was 16 and living at home as an apprentice in 1997.

Really sorry to hear about Ash's stepdad. I've never met Ash but he is clearly a top top person and a devoted family man and Gashead. Donated. I hope this goes a little way to helping out.
