I can remember Rovers having stadium plans for Eastville stadium. It involved digging a massive hole and building a new stadium in it despite Rovers not owning the stadium and not having the money. Does anyone remember that?

I loved the Carson’s road pirate ship design. Also would have been the closest for me (at the time)!

Does anyone remember that? Think they were trying to buy half of the stadium back then get grants to redevelop it.

Closest we got was the 2011 revamp of the Mem and the UWE (both getting planning permission)... UWE just pips it for me

Carsons road. Cousin nicked some paperwork from the planning meeting which are probably in my parents attic. Refused due to a) light pollution from floodlights - lights would have been in roof b) Badgers - There weren't any but they could have moved in c) Loss of farm due to access road - ring road kicked them out anyway, land was always going to be lost.

I used to go out with a girl whose uncle was a local architect. He told me that his company was involved with one of the stadium schemes, can't remember which, possibly Severnside. Said they realised after a few months that the club had no real means or ambition to get the thing built, sense was the stadium drawings and plans were just there to keep fans happy. I've always been very much of the "I'll believe it when I'm sat in it" camp ever since sadly.

I just don’t buy and have never bought that UWE wasn’t the best opportunity this FC has ever had to build a fantastic facility in its heartland that would take it to another level. When Wael Al Qadi and his family took over they took all of momentum out of that fantastic opportunity, they didn’t get the historic struggles we had had or the journey from losing our ground of 100 years to play in another city to eventually struggle back to share with the Rugby club. They didn’t get or care also that there had been numerous failed schemes from Mangotsfield to Stoke Gifford to Severnside. It has the feel that when they took over they had little interest in UWE. Wael fooled us and Higgs, he was less than honest with everyone. I am angry with Higgs for his atrocious agreement with Sainsbury’s and in his rage at being outwitted nearly taking us to bankruptcy and then having to sell to any old chancer at a desperate discount. I am angry also with Wael because having then bought Higgs out in what he described as ‘an unbelievable deal’ he deceived us, he chucked in the bin our greatest ever opportunity. He didn’t chuck it away because it was a bad deal for BRFC. No, he sacked it off because he neither had the capital or the backing of his family to do it. He never intended to buy a big football club which would require major investment or create one either and nor does he now.

You could be bang on the money but just as likely you could be miles off the truth . That’s the thing , none of us know why these things never come to fruition (😂) , it’s always just guesses and supposition. The reasons why UWE went tits up might well of been the right thing , just as it could have been a game changing mess up .

.....it's more a kind of greeny glow ,but nice all the same

The North Stand replaced a covered terrace similar to the "temporary" stanchioned one going up now. Seems we've gone the full cycle
