The fixture we might like to laugh about. Or perhaps despair about.
Unfortunately, we can fail to win against these Northern Soul lads in all circumstances.
30 Mar 1999 Wigan Athletic v Bristol Rovers W 1-0 League Division 2
11 Sept 1999 Wigan Athletic v Bristol Rovers W 3-1 League Division 2
04 Mar 2000 Bristol Rovers v Wigan Athletic D 1-1 League Division 2
16 Sept 2000 Bristol Rovers v Wigan Athletic D 0-0 League Division 2
17 Feb 2001 Wigan Athletic v Bristol Rovers D 0-0 League Division 2
16 Sept 2017 Wigan Athletic v Bristol Rovers W 3-0 League One
24 Apr 2018 Bristol Rovers v Wigan Athletic D 1-1 League One
24 Nov 2020 Wigan Athletic v Bristol Rovers D 0-0 League One
23 Feb 2021 Bristol Rovers v Wigan Athletic W 1-2 League One
It's time to win. Three points for the Southern softies. Just a feeling.

Ah that last meeting, where all Jonah had to do was flick on the header (from our throw in) but like the useless oaf he was gave away a cheap free kick instead. The resulting 95th min winner was a proper hammer blow.
And who can forget Nicholson missing from 5 yards out in the reverse fixture😂😂

The nil nil draw in September 2000 was one of the very greatest goalless games I ever saw (seriously). Both sides went for it. Proper defending, proper keeping, proper whole shebang. Superb game of football.

I remember the season we won the league Carl Saunders scored a hatrick on what I think was his debut and we won 6-1. Vaughn Jones also scored from a cross from deep on his left hand side from about 40 yards as well. Funny cos I was only 11 and I can’t remember a thing about any of our other games against them since but that season will be forever ingrained in my mind. If I was to ever go on mastermind my specialist subject would be Bristol Rovers 89/90 season and in particular 2/5/90.

What about the 3-1 home win in August 97.....the same night I was glassed by a city fan on the Gloucester Rd, I was on my own but slightly annebriated. I still got the scar on my head to this day! I got the bar steward back 6 months later by smashing his head into the taps in the Foresters Arms (as it was then) hope that sh**e lived as I know I ***** his teeth up, it was a chance meeting but when he went for a pee I followed the b****** Rest is history! Not a nice story but you got revenge. I’ve always thought that harbouring resentment only eats away at you and isn’t healthy but in this particular circumstance I’m glad you got the Dam shithead back and gave him what he deserved.

Especially the away game at Northampton , they were playing in something that looked like a cricket ground our away terrace had the front under the pitch so if you were stood at the front you were eye level with the ground , it was a baking hot day Northampton scored first , Christian McClean bundled one in off of his arse ( decent cover for Bruno I can’t remember why he wasn’t playing ) then Olly smashed one in a top corner right in front of me to make it 2-1, Mental and nothing has lived up to that season since . People Kept saying to me after the 7-0 v Scunthorpe nothing will ever beat that I kept saying nothing will ever beat 89/90

A lad I used to work with said Vaughn used to frequent his local boozer , think it was in Stapleton , very approachable. Some season that , and what a night at Twerton v the 82. Am I right in thinking Vaughn threw his losers medal away ( Leyland daf final ) ,or was that a myth?

The Northampton ground at that time was indeed the Northants CCC ground. That 2-1 victory was a classic.
I was one of very few Rovers fans at the 1-0 defeat at Wigan in 1999. A midweek game. Their old ground was a bit of a dump. I like the new one though.
