Just watching. Coburn did well first to use his strength to get through the defence and in the 2nd half actually winning a pen. Refs see how he is fouled in the championship at least! Should have done better with the next chance tho. Good luck to the lad.

Missed a sitter with that one on one though. Hmm, the defender did well to block the square pass and slide in to disrupt the shot. Then there's a keeper to beat on a slight slight angle from 12 yards with a relatively small target area to shoot at. He'll be disappointed but fair play to him for getting his shot away and on target as he's not the quickest.

So that’s Coburn, Quinsah and Anderson all playing first team football at their parent clubs having been on loan to us. Can only help with our reputation for developing players (although appreciate that one or two haven’t worked out).

How's it going for them? I’d say Ward and Greenslade are rated and decent prospects getting good experience. Hoole and Gordon are first team squad members (albeit down the pecking order now we’ve brought in some experience). Connolly is only 21 and getting first team experience elsewhere (now that opportunities more limited) but I expect him to be in our long term plans after signing him permanently. Macca an important member of the first team squad (if you mean Luke M). Not sure if you’re agreeing that we’ve developed young talent or disagreeing. Worth bearing in mind though that some of the youngsters were inherited by JB and team and so might not have been players they would have brought to the club.

I doubt if JB and team have any input into the recruitment of youngsters till they are ready for pro forms, so not sure of youth point. At 21, Connolly is older than the three players you mentioned as are some of the others. Two of the three you stated were selected for prem games, two tiers above us. Coburn on level above. Yet you state ours are squad members.

Yet you state ours are squad members. Fair enough. I suppose all I was initially trying to say was we’ve been trusted to take on loan and develop a number of players and three have gone back to their clubs with the experience of being with us and have found their ways into their first teams (maybe that would have happened regardless of us, who knows, but it signals to other clubs we can be trusted with their youngsters). I then look at the signings of Taylor and Connolly, and how Hoole and Gordon have been given chances, and I see a club and manager wanting to, and doing ok at, bringing in and developing young talent. Obviously Joey does like to mix it up with experience and older players too.
