We’ve got a really strong squad so I don’t think you necessarily have to be “massively” out of favour to miss out on a place in the matchday squad these days. Except only 1 defender on bench and a winger/no10 playing your position? Would seem to suggest well out of favour to me. I think he will struggle to get on the bench, not because he’s not rated or done something to be ‘out of favour’ but more that he’s limited to just one position whereas the likes of Hoole, Grant and Gibbons can all provide more flexibility when the manager needs to make changes. The bench is almost always going to be more loaded with midfielders and attackers than defenders which will limit his chances further. |
