We have a big squad and I don't agree with mass changes for the sake of it, but if all our technical analysts and scouts watch Posh and know they have a big side with fast wingers, why don't we try to play a side to adapt?
Ie Hoole is taller and probably quicker that Hunt.
I must admit I did not see the game or hear any commentary so it maybe does sound like the benefit of hindsight, but maybe it something we could/should look at going forward.
If LT is not deemed to be good enough or reliable enough to help defend maybe for a specific game a more defensive minded wide player (Jones?) maybe a better option, or if we have a fit full back (Gordon) rather than an out of position player?
I know those specific players are on loan, or injured but you get the gist.
I'm sure that certain players seem to perform better at home than away, some look better on bigger pitches with more space, so lots of things to think about.

Ummmm.....is that not the manager's exact job?

Harvey vale at left back was our best player yesterday thought he had a terrific game. Hunt is as quick if not quicker than hoole imo. He just made silly errors jumping in as he knew he had to Win the ball early as would be beat for pace everytime. Sometimes there just isn't anything you can do to stop the opposition.
Game of fine margins we could have just as easily won that game yesterday

Imagine the reaction in the matchday thread if he’d have left out our MoM from the previous game to bring in Hoole……especially if we had still lost.

You have to say we are pretty predictable. DC used to mix things up and lots of people hated it. I always thought it was good management, but he did lose it at the end.
The issue is I don’t think we have the appropriate plan B. 2 big strikers and a big midfielder would do it.
Posh’s team wasn’t kicking it around like we were, but they had pace and power upfront and in defence, and that ultimately was the difference.

Imagine the reaction in the matchday thread if he’d have left out our MoM from the previous game to bring in Hoole……especially if we had still lost. You are right there’s no way Hunt could have been dropped after the last couple of games. But I said it after his first couple of games when he made errors that lead to goals (Wycombe and Lincoln) that maybe the defensive side could be his weakness and yesterday it was exploited. But there’s no way Hoole could come in, he’s just not aggressive enough as a defender. In fact I’d say we lack that throughout the squad. I mentioned last seasons game at Peterborough during the match day thread and tried to draw some parallels, last season we went there and were aggressive, especially with their wingers. Gordon and Gibbons were excellent, I’m sure I remember one of them putting their winger into the stand within the first minute that set the tone, whilst Finley was kicking anything that moved. Personally if we after a change in gameplan to be more aggressive at the back I’d be putting gibbons in for that reason, but there’s no way Hunt could have been dropped after his last 2 performances. But once things started to go wrong for him there’s really no way that Hoole is going to come on and dominant a winger by being nasty, doing all the stuff that fans don’t notice because they only concentrate on what players do with the ball, hoole isn’t that type of player. Also in the MDT I suggested that maybe Hunt could have been rested with an eye on Tuesdays game when we will have more of the ball in the opposition half, which I think suits Hunt more than hoole and gibbons. Also it’s what’s front of the fullbacks as well, personally I think that Sinclair and Evans provide more cover for the fullbacks with the effort they put in going backwards as well as forwards, LT not so much. I would say that yesterday we tried too hard to play our usual style (nothing wrong with that I guess) but it came at the cost of exposing ourselves to their threats and one of the goals came from it. I’m not advocating DC level of tinkering, just little tweaks to suit who we play.

He's getting used to the position though.

Looking at our squad that's probably the only thing he could have done yesterday to counter the lads pace down the left wing was to drop thomas and play Sinclair as he's excellent at covering back and would of helped hunt down that side.

Not sure we needed to make any changes, all we needed was Hunt to stay on his feet and not dive in and Collins to take one or both of his straightforward looking chances.
