In each of the last SEVEN seasons we have failed to be at our best in the opening fixtures.
The first NINE games have produced these outcomes.
2017/2018 Season.
P – 9. W – 4. D – 0. L – 5. GF – 15. GA – 19. GD – 4. PTS – 12.
2018/2019 Season.
P – 9. W – 2. D – 2. L – 5. GF – 9. GA – 11. GD – 2. PTS – 8.
2019/2020 Season.
P – 9. W – 3. D – 3. L – 3. GF – 10. GA – 11. GD – 1. PTS – 12.
2020/2021 Season.
P – 9. W – 3. D – 3. L – 3. GF – 10. GA – 13. GD – 3. PTS – 12.
2021/2022 Season.
P – 9. W – 3. D – 1. L – 5. GF – 8. GA – 14. GD – 6. PTS – 10.
2022/2023 Season.
P – 9. W – 2. D – 2. L – 5. GF – 13. GA – 19. GD – 6. PTS – 8.
2023/2024 Season.
P – 9. W – 3. D – 3. L – 3. GF – 12. GA – 11. GD +1. PTS – 12.
This season we have beaten the sides currently in 15th, 18th and 22nd.
We have drawn with the teams in 1st, 7th and 10th.
Our defeats came against the teams in 5th, 9th and 13th.
Our next three fixtures are against sides presently in 6th, 2nd and 8th.
How many points could we get against Port Vale, Oxford United and Exeter City?
FOUR seems most likely. SIX would be a real bonus. Can we do it? YES WE CAN.
After those games are over we will have played all the top 10 teams, excluding Stevenage and Bolton Wanderers.

Rather than just the next 3 I was looking at all the October fixtures and there are some winnable games there. No games are easy but I reckon double figure points by Halloween would see us near the play offs at least.

It was a great shame the JCH deal fell through because I think he would have been worth a fair few extra points.I thought we were very unlucky not to take anything from saturday but performances from certain players makes me confident that there will be many points coming when the side really clicks. I note in your assessment of who we have beaten you included Wigan as a bottom six side however if you add their 8 point deduction then they were really a top ten side. Just a point!!!

JB needs to win games now with absolutely no excuses. Hes been backed in every way possible, hes run out of excuses which is why he blamed Luke Thomas for his poor tactics.
If we arent top 10 on Dec 1 then he needs to be sacked IMO.

JB needs to win games now with absolutely no excuses. Hes been backed in every way possible, hes run out of excuses which is why he blamed Luke Thomas for his poor tactics. If we arent top 10 on Dec 1 then he needs to be sacked IMO. Who should we bring in? Young, old, UK, Foreign, Former player, From above or below, expensive or cheap, with ambition or to steady the ship, long ball or short, aggressive or passive, a friend, a hot head, a winner or a loser? I wonder if that would be unanimously accepted on December 1st.. I am very reluctant to get rid of any manager. The difference a week makes though. Everything is either brilliant or a disaster. Small margins decide results. I think JB is doing OK. I'd rather have the stability of OK than a chain of successive unsuccessful managers and continuous change. We've been in that situation before and we don't want to go there. Ideally we'd be competing for promotion but I'm happy with a situation where we aren't under threat of relegation. From what I have seen this season there seems to be no real dominant teams in this league and anyone can beat anyone except for a couple of teams at the bottom. As long as I see a progression and slight improvements I'm happy. We have a good squad and I am confident it will start to flourish as the season goes on. |
