Congratulations Matt.
Is he one who we could have looked to sign permanently? This will put a bit on his price.

Congratulations Matt. Is he one who we could have looked to sign permanently? This will put a bit on his price. I very much doubt it. Highly regarded at Brentford.

Congratulations Matt. Is he one who we could have looked to sign permanently? This will put a bit on his price. I very much doubt it. Highly regarded at Brentford. It’s a shame but I think you’re right. But playing for England U21s will boost his reputation and is a sign that he’s playing well and we are benefitting from it. Have to say that JBs loans are a mark above what we’ve been used to. Anderson, Bogarde, Thomas (both of them), Taylor, Connolly, Crama, Quansah were all good. The goalie last season had a tough time but overall the standard has risen remarkably. And the impact playing for us has had on Anderson, Quansah, even Bobby Thomas has been good. I would think managers overall would like what we’ve done to their players. Oh and more to the point well done Matt for your call-up. UTG!

I thought he started a little nervous but he’s proving to be a very good signing, I have my criticism of Barton as a person but he has a very good record with developing Prem loan players.
Good luck to Cox, please keep a clean sheet tomorrow!

Good luck to Cox, please keep a clean sheet tomorrow! I agree , I like what Barton has done as our manager but I also like and dislike what does and says as a person in equal measures. He doesn’t just divide opinion in our fan base he divides opinion in many individual supporters I feel. Well that’s how I think about him anyway. He’s a complicated personality to get to understand and I reckon he’s a troubled soul but also there’s a bit of genius in there too and as he’s getting older he does seem to be chilling a bit , i mean I know he kicked the door off the referees dressing room at the end of last season but a younger Joe Barton probably would have lamped him too. Well done Matt Cox on his call up and the other two as well. I think the break could do us good as it’ll give some of the injured players a chance to recover. Looking toward to Oxford tomorrow I know we always win at Oxford do do do ! But I’d probably take a point as on paper it’s a very tough one with them in form.

Joey Bartons long list of misdemeanours and his reputation will always follow him and he'll always be a target, opposing fans will always give him pelters and the fan bases of the clubs he manages whether it be ourselves, Fleetwood and whoever he goes on to manage after us will always be divided. However, whatever you think of him as an individual, I don't think any of us can deny that within Football circles he's highly regarded, 99.9% of his former managers, coaches, teammates and plus the players he's coached and managed himself speak highly of him. The reason we managed to somehow get Elliot Anderson to come to us was down to his friendship with Shola Ameobi and Steve Harper, former teammates of his at Newcastle. Premier League clubs keep trusting him with their best youngsters, i.e Elliot Anderson, but also Jarrel Quansah, Harvey Vale and Matthew Cox all tournament winners with England are joining us now, we never used to get players like these. The fact he keeps getting loan players of this pedigree and calibre to come here, plus young players continue to want to come back and play for him, Connor Taylor, Lamar Bogarde, Luke McCormick and Luke Thomas etc Not to mention experienced pros like of Coutts, Finley, Glenn Whelan, Jordan Rossiter have followed him too, speaks volumes.

For instance you could argue were developing Aaron Collins, who started of at our academy in the 1st place before being released as a 15/16 year old. Would you consider Tom Lockyer one of ours that we developed? Even though he came from Cardiff?

Simple definition would be any player on a permanent contract. It's great to have the kids here and this year's additions seem to better than last year's. Fully expect all of them to have a good career in the upper championship and Premiership. As other posters have mentioned on other threads, that then leaves us with rebuilding again at the start of next season and the first 10 games to gel.

Yeah we’ve never been able to bring players of that quality to the club before , not in my lifetime anyway. My biggest criticism of Joe is a tactical one. He seems to start every season thinking we can go out and play a slow tempo possession game and we struggle. Thankfully this season he’s seemed to have scrapped it quite early and since half time v Shrewsbury we’ve been much quicker in our play and looked really good. I think we’ll make top 6 this season. Doesn’t make the bench tonight. His opposite number from Saturday does. All good experience for him though.

What age group is Jed? Sure he made an England training camp a few years ago.
From what I have heard he is doing well at Wealdstone. Good shot stopper but needs to improve on crosses so getting good experience.
