A good game completely ruined by a fu***ng idiot who gave out more cards today than he sends at Christmas. It was competitive no nasty fouls yet he sends 3 off. Think you were the better side 1st half, we were 2nd.
Got to be the worst ref I’ve seen in years, for both sides.

Im never usually pleased after a defeat but I was pleased with that performance. That was with a depleted team as well, with a makeshift defence against the form team away. Play like that and we'll take some stopping especially when players return

The intensity we started the match and some of the interplay was superb, we created lots of chances that won’t always be missed. We really can be a good side, I really enjoyed watching us play it was entertaining also which is after all why we watch the beautiful game.

Yes we are starting to move the ball around with far more purpose these days, whereas earlier in the season it felt like we were passing for the sake of it and nobody was creating any space up the pitch. Very impressed with Vale again today too he is getting better and better. Still need someone who can finish but maybe add that in January?

Definitely zipping the ball better and getting it quicker to the attacking players. Think we can proud of the performance even though it ended up in defeat.

We are going to regret not getting a top striker before the window closed
Literally Is the missing piece of a very good jigsaw
For up to the next 6 weeks we only have Martin
2 weeks off to recover some bodies, but can we stay within touching distance of the play offs coming into Jan?
No doubt we are a good side on our day but we keep bemoaning missed chances and ‘bad luck’ or ‘bad Ref’ and generally that won’t have us challenging….

Fully agree there is a marked difference this season we are also playing with fullbacks that are always looking to attack and not constantly turning back or playing square. Gordon and Hoole will get their chance but need to learn from the likes of Hunt and to an extent Vale. Similarly Bogarde is a great ball winner but he needs to learn from Woods who hardly ever gives the ball away about holding onto possession. Good to see Conor T. growing in confidence and Grant playing regularly and doing well. I still wonder if Connelly would have his confidence restored alongside Taylor.

Listened to it on the radio. Sounded like a real humdinger. We were impacted with the Brown sending off. They would have felt the pressure towards the end.
Just a bit unlucky. Their radio commentators were very flattering towards us.

A lot of our football in that first half and towards the end of the match was phenomenal. So good to watch. The Sincs chance at the end was ‘the one’, would’ve been some serious scenes if he’d binned that.

I also think the 4 3 3 and new midfield would now take pressure of him having to faff around with the ball waiting to give a forward pass to a midfield of finley and ward who then gave it straight back to him under pressure

He should learn from Woods who is always looking around even when the ball is coming towards him. Bogarde is slow moving with it sometimes and has no awareness the opposition players are closing him down. The difference between experienced and inexperienced and he will learn, thats why he is here

Watched ifollow in OZ Ref an absolute joke . Been a rovers fan since 1957 when neighbour took me to Eastville. I thought the Gas played really really well and deserved at least a point. Vale outstanding, Collins should have had a hat trick !!! Bogarde caught in possession too many times. If we can produce that standard going forward then play offs are on the cards.

I’ll go against the grain here.I don’t think Oxford we’re lucky at all,we missed some decent but not easy chances 1st half and generally had the better of it.Credit should go to their manager for bringing on the right winger sub at half time because that single substitution changed the flow of the game dramatically as we were penned back on that side and could only get forwards that side very sporadically. The same happened on the other side when Murphy came on and we couldn’t cope with their pace.Overall thought Oxford were the best side we’ve played so far and the mostly short passing game they played was similar to how we play but topped our play with the pace they were able to introduce off the bench.Would prefer to watch that type of football as opposed to Pompey who basically try and get a million crosses in per game to service the height they have in their frontline, works for them mind and I would assume their fans are loving being top of the league right now.Gripe from the game, when we messed up that short corner 2nd half and the Oxford lad shot over a glorious chance, why send up your centre backs and don’t cross it in and why leave Hunt and Woods as your deepest lying players when neither has much pace, surely leave someone like Bogarde back there as at least he can run around a bit.Sounding like a moany post now which is not intended, but although we played well first half,to be able to change around a game going against you,as Oxford did,is something you will need frequently over the course of a season to be in a promotion race and we don’t have that unfortunately.
