All of English football should be mourning this afternoon. Bobby Charlton was English footballs greatest gentleman. Was one of the enland World Cup winning team. Scored lots of fantastic goals. Now gone to join brother Jack. RIP Sir Bobby.

One of the first games I can remember is the 1968 European Cup Final, Bobby Charlton was a hero of mine from that night onwards. RIP.

Well that just about puts the cap on an awful day! Bobby was quite simply the best on and off the field, a hero of my youth and one of the few who had first hand experience of the great Duncan Edwards. There was no finer sight than Bobby collecting the ball 1/2 way , striding forward as the buzz in the stadium grew louder and louder before unleashing a thunderbolt into the top corner, seen it many time sand have never forgotten, even Anfield rose as one to salute one of his specials in front of the kop, can you believe that! thanks for the memories Bobby and bless you.

Before my time but what a player.
I think that just leaves Geoff Hurst from the WC winning team 🙁

Very true Jock, think he always felt 'guilty' about surviving and could never quite understand why which made him quite a shy individual, not many interviews around with Bobby, certainly never affected him once he pulled the boots on though, thank goodness.

Rest in peace Sir Bobby.
Simply one of the greatest players I have had the pleasure to watch.
Played 3 times against the gas in both the FA cup at Old Trafford and both League Cup games against us.
Also played for Football League against League of Ireland at Eastville

Not many from that great era are still around sadly. Pele, Eusebio, Greaves, Moore, Muller, Cruyff, Banks all no longer with us. I think Beckenbauer and Denis Law are still around?
