I didn't think it was a foul when I saw it live. If that was us and we scored and the ref gave a foul I would would be fuming. Keepers fault IMO

Wasn’t at the game but going by the highlights looks to me as it was a foul on cox but in all fairness does look like a handball. But then also brown could have had a penalty for getting pulled all over If any body got 5 mins have a look at Steve Evans post match interview , he didn’t go much on the officials either

Their bloke has every right to jump for the ball, the keeper just had to get a hand to it with a better jump and Taylor also smashes into him.
I’d be lived if our goal like this was disallowed and Gerry’s side would never have gone up if every goal was disallowed like this!
As for the highlights, they summed up the game and Evans was right as well, anyone thinking we should have won needs to get their head tested, we were lucky to get a point.

Keepers get so much protection now, some players and fan can't comprehend not getting a free kick the second the keeper goes down. Cox came to catch/punch the ball and failed miserably I can see why Stevenage were aggrieved with our goal. No idea if under the newer rules and phases of play whether Marquis is technically onside or not, but a definite handball as well

Typical of the general poor level of refereeing and inconsistency these days. The ref was right it was’t a foul but I reckon most referees would have given a free kick. A keeper has a huge advantage on high balls and Cox was simply very weak in that incident - still a good keeper and perhaps the only goal he’s “given away”. Why did Jevani Brown get sent off at Oxford which included kicking the ball away a second after the whistle when his referee colleague allowed Stevenage to do the exact same thing about half a dozen times? Why did the referee have a word at corners and tell defenders to cut out the rugby tackles, blows his whistle for the corner and then watch the attackers blatantly getting wrestled to the ground. Ref and Lino get fussy about free kicks being played from the exact spot but allow fullbacks to walk 10-15 yards up the touchline to take throw ins. Useless. Even though the officials are useless (for both teams) our performance was even worse and we were lucky to get a point. Can we play that poorly at home again Saturday? I hope so and hope we can get another few players back - the game was riddled with appalling mistakes by virtually all of the players last night. Even the basics were beyond them which must be a loss of confidence as individually these are good players. I know someone on the ground staff who says the spirit among the players and with JB is excellent so hard to know why we are struggling so much at the moment. We are playing a formation that the players are used to and comfortable with so a real puzzle.

I wasn't convinced it was a foul on Cox live and having watched that I'm still not, however a lot of referees would have given it and I think thats the frustration. No consistency from one week to the next, same with the time wasting rule players in the same game get booked to kicking the ball away & others don't.

It’s the inconsistency that gets me, putting to one side whether you think it’s a foul or not, those are almost always given but this one wasn’t.

How lucky were we. They should have been out of sight, missed a sitter when clean through and hit the post.
I can see why Evans was upset with our equaliser, blatant handball by Marquis in the build up. I guess that makes up for not getting the handball for the penalty shout so at least its consistent. Even if that is consistently bad.
Either way, we didnt deserve anything from that and we got lucky.

Brown strayed right in front of refs eyeline as Marquis handles the ball - deserves the assist more than Marquis 😂
Vale playing in a more advanced role was brilliant, need to play him there at the weekend, especially now we have more cover at LB assuming they all came through unscathed.
Stevenage weren’t fantastic by any means, we were just dire for large portions of the game which unfortunately seems to be a bit of a trend.

Play like that and we'll go down. We know we can play better but how can we go from playing excellent attacking football against the likes of Barnsley, Wigan, and Port Vale, to the dross we've witnessed in the last 2 games? We were lucky last night. Stevenage could easily have had 3 or 4 and our goal should have been disallowed. I'm not quite in the Barton out camp yet but if we fail to get some positive performances and results from our next 6 games (Northampton, Whitby, Reading, Carlisle, Newport, & Fleetwood) I think we might have to roll the dice. Those are all games we should be winning in my opinion.

The next two home games seem the crucial ones for JB , as if we can't beat Northampton and Whitby are we really going to then go to Reading and get a result? With the injury problems starting to slowly ease, assuming everybody survived injury free last night and during training this week, then JB can't really use the injury card much longer. Although the new owners are so quiet we've no real idea what they are thinking (if anything?), it could be they are just content to let JB plod on until the summer, or we look in real danger of being relegated, before making any decisions.

Stevenage should have had a free kick near the end when one of our centre Half's held a forward and the ref did not give it. If he had we would have had a player sent off too. Players look confused and some unsure of what is expected! JB stayed in the dug out most of the game , always a sign a manager is clueless.

Anyone see Hoole 2nd half deliberate foul on their centre forward spinning him around 360? Dark arts indeed. Not even the camera shows this..

I thought Luca hoole was a decent enough League one right back until I saw Jack hunts debut. Head and shoulders above him. Hoole was so poor last night. We really need to sort both full back positions out in the summer with competition for hunt and a first team left back. Friend will do if he can stay fit his season.

He wasn't one of the 6 bookings we soaked up. Petty bookings and we're falling for them week in and out.

Disagree Yes he’s better but he’s probably only got a season or two left. Hoole is a decent RB and still learning. Hopefully will be a first teamer for a long time to come. Let’s not forget Hunt had a shocker just a few weeks ago. LB is our main problem.

Luca hoole looks like a rabbit in the headlights when he steps past the halfway line. Hopefully I'm proved wrong but I dont ever see him developing into a top league one or championship full back.

The problem is that once Hoole beat his man and looked up there was no one in the box! Martin was not there and Collins and Brown were even further back. Hoole therefore had to turn back. In the first few games, Hunt and Thomas had to do the same. It has been said before, but only Marquis breaks his neck to get in the box. There is no partnerships from the front players, which is a big issue. Hunt and Thomas combine well, but with no Marquis, there is no one to aim for. With the limited options we have it is crying out for Azza, or Big John to either play off the shoulder of Martin, or Azza to tuck in as a no 10. Last night Brown and Azza were miles away from Martin.
