Let’s say we win Saturday and things begin to improve a little. What are the must solve problems in the window. Injuries, red cards and players losing pace mean we in theory have a great squad but too often unavailable or underperforming
GK. Need a no1. Cox is a good prospect but no2 for me. Would rather have Ward on the bench
LB. Absolute mess of recruitment here. Gordon, Clarke, Friend. Need a solid LB with some pace and fitness
No6. We have a lot of midfielders but zero consistency due to injury and suspension
No9. Not sure JCH is the magic bullet. Feel he is way past his best. Would love a younger hungrier version if we have £800k to spend!

I’d steer well clear of JCH in January unless he was available at a cut price. Dont think he’s the answer to our woes and not the player he once was.
Dream world , Longstaff from Notts, he’s just signed a new contract though so no chance of that.

Davis Kellior-Dunn (forward / winger) from Mansfield Town
Recall James Connolly from Morecambe
Arthur Read (midfielder) from Colchester United
Jackie Currie (left back/ centre back) from AFC Wimbledon

Freddie Draper 19 years old on loan at Walsall from Lincoln is going to be some player, I'd sooner spend 800k on someone like him than JCH.

We need a LB who can actually attack and deliver a ball, a GK who can catch or punch another CM to replace Finley and 2 strikers.

If you keep flogging the only option you have then it’s likely to break at some point! First of all JCH is on another level to Martin and Marquis but the version I saw 3/4 weeks ago is very different to the one we knew under Cogs. He’s older and 29 now, he has bulked up or call it put the weight on and he’s known for his refuelling issues.
Remember Andy Williams under Trollope, he’s 37 now and bowed out from the professional game from Walsall in the summer, he’s conference North now back at Hereford. He looked after himself, it’s how he took the knocks and played on late, I predict JCH will go non league at 33, 34 latest, his body won’t be able to take it just like Lambert’s couldn’t who BTW is big now!

It's easy to say that with hindsight but when we were supposed to be signing him he'd just won the L1 Golden Boot. Who knows what's going on in his mind, he went on partial strike before we sold him so perhaps he's now doing similar at Posh? |
