He took us as far as he could within the limits of his ability. Trouble for him was that was not very far. Then add in his lack of personal discipline which has, more than once, reflected badly on the club. This was inevitable. Personally I am glad he is gone, now we can move on.

Class statement by Barton to be fair, I wish he was more like this as a manager day to day.
I think Mansell was right on Having a Gas tonight, Barton will learn from the Luke Thomas episode and his time with us.
I do think he’s going to struggle to get a good job next, it might be a fire fight job at somewhere like Reading where he offers to work for free or peanuts. Until he learns to process what comes out of his mouth, and be more like tonight’s statement, I think clubs will give him a wide birth.
Maybe a move to somewhere like Greece or Saudi next would suit him.

Can only assume the new owners weren’t blinded by his BS and didn’t like how he represented the club. Results weren’t quite at the sacking point yet. Would like to see some continuity but Eustace would be amazing. Cant wait for the mouth to start throwing a tantrum. Tbf I had already posted this and said fair play to him!

Absolute shambles of a decision. Joey Barton was our best chance of getting us out of this division, but has not been given the time to complete the job he has started. Evolution not revolution. Absolutely, if we sacked JB after the poor start in league 2, we would likely be a league 2 side still. He has brought in some good players and are a work in process... Not sure why some on here think we have the devine right to be way above where we are right now. It's another restart in this long evolution we are enduring. All it appears to me is that the club have no idea what they are doing on the pitch in anyway. They absolutely have no plans to develop in a proper way off the pitch either, playing in a tinpot ground. Putting up scaffolding to replace a tent.

Chris Hughton was sacked with Forest at the Bottom and Wilder at Boro, Cooper took them up that season and Carrick took Boro to the play offs. To be fair Wael got it right sacking DC, Cogs took us on a massive run. We sacked Trollope and that season had Penny and Campbell really make us worse and we got relegated. We can only really comment on the decision on what happens this season going forwards now.

Think he left under a cloud didn’t he and hasn’t been complimentary about them since?

This next appointment feels huge. Bartons record is average at best but his drive, determination and status that attracted higher calibre players will be a loss that must be matched.

Hard not to be touched by Joey’s statement. My thoughts after reading his statement was: Is it Gas Head or Gashead? Maybe Joey didn't really get us after all.

I can help with this: We have assembled the best squad of players since Twerton Park era, some say ever. We have spent more on wages this season that ever before.
