I think that phrase came about due to the points return in 2023 and still people were defending him. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Even now, when he has been sacked. Fans make comments about players not performing and say if I didn't perform in my job, I would get sacked. JB didn't perform. In fact, there is a chance that some of the things he said about players publicly could be construed as Gross misconduct in a non football job. Imagine in your job talking on the radio about your competitor being a fat Weeble. You would get fired the next day. If you deal with facts and not emotions, the simple case is that JB wasn't a very good manager. In no other industry and nor at any other club in my opinion when working for a public customer facing business could you publicly call an employee an idiot and also a competitor a fat weeble. The only kind of people who can get away with stuff like this is Elon Musk at Twitter and Trump, and this is because they are billionaires. ...also worth pointing out that in very few other jobs do you finish the most intense part of your shift and immediately have microphones shoved in your face and all kinds of (often stupid) questions being asked... ...could/should he already have learnt from previous mistakes? Of course, but no one is perfect....

I get that there's hundreds of these silly shouts on that website but I find this one proper cringey.

If you stay away because you think the manager is mean, you’re an evangelising activist and not a fan. It has to be all about you. Welcome back to supporting the club, until the next time you get your knickers up the cleft of your buttocks because the left back once had a parking ticket. Very few people here were in a “cult of barton” as it’s been described. We have loyalty to the club we support which is non-negotiable. Whomever the next man is gets the same support. Crow all you like, as if you’ve won something. You’ve won nothing other than to be thought of as pretentious children more interested in morally auditing everyone than supporting a football club. Politics is probably a better home than football, there’s plenty of backstabbing and plots to fire people there. Rest assured, you’ve been permanently relegated to an armchair fan. I think that phrase came about due to the points return in 2023 and still people were defending him. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Even now, when he has been sacked. If you deal with facts and not emotions, the simple case is that JB wasn't a very good manager. To be fair when Ben Garner got sacked there were still plenty on here saying we should be giving him more time. Just an observation, Tuesday flipped me into Barton out territory.

I agree, Garner was only a goalscorer away from having a successful team... (Don't really believe that for either, just trying to address that point that someone will probably mention)

No not really. I, personally, vehemently opposed the appointment of Barton on the grounds that he was and would be a terrible ambassador for the club. Like it or not being that, ambassador, is part of the job. And, it came to pass. I did stop going for most of the season in L2, but went to Newport away (we lost) as I decided not to let his acts and verbage ruin my enjoyment of following Rovers. I am glad, very glad and relieved, he is gone. Not only was he a terrible, narcissistic gobshite as ambassador, his football managerial skills delivered little, it was always jam tomorrow and if things didn't work out he would make a public display of slagging off players. When future fans review the history of the club his period will be seen as a failure laced with embarrassment. I actually do not blame him. He cannot help what he is, whether what he has become (or been) is due to nature or nurture who knows. I point the finger at the chaotic executive of the club under Wael's ownership who appointed him. The frightening thing is, that is still with us, with the addition of a family of Kuwaiti businessman of whom we know little and have heard from even less. A nervous few months beckons. I honestly do understand why some didn't like JB but for it was his passion for the club that I loved and I do enjoy a controversial manager as it makes life interesting ! It looks like his recent presser re Evans and possibly calling out Luke Thomas on top of poor performances were the final straw for the owners. If we were higher up the league I don't think his comments would have mattered as it be seen JB being JB but our league position, following decent investment, clearly were no longer acceptable Think your spot on midsomer 👍💙utg
