Claude Makelele? Could be an interesting outside the box appointment. Believe Wael knows him a bit, he’s watched a Rovers game from the directors box in the past. Not much managerial experience just two jobs one in France and one in Belgium and lost almost twice as many games as he won combined.

Wouldn’t be against Leam Richardson coming in, also like Challinor but don’t believe he’ll leave Stockport for us or that we’ll lay the money out required.
Still have a feeling that they’ll go with someone we’ve never heard of from a big side or a foreigner.

I said several days ago now that my worry with sacking Barton is who comes in to replace. All these names are absolutely awful. None are better than Barton. He was mid way to building this club up from rock bottom so the appointment needs to be someone with the long term aim in sight to continue the progress we have made. Where is the evidence in that? I could understand if we were progressing but we weren't. I wasn't totally against Barton but he got longer than most managers get these days and you can bang on about long term progress all you like but at the end of the day it's a results business and ours were not good enough. At the end of the day he's been heavily backed and we're not much better off than when he took us over (position wise). Squad wise we are though IMO. The progress is glaringly obvious. Compare player for player to the squad he inherited and it's ridiculous how much better our squad is now compared to that one. Your only looking at league positions, behind the scenes the club is in a much much better place than where it was when he took charge and he had a lot to do with that.

That’s because he’s been given more money than anyone else to drive those standards behind the scenes. Ultimately what good is it being sh** hot in training and then Luther van dross on a Saturday afternoon!

But he's been backed like no Rovers manager before. If you give me £100 to go shopping, I'll come back with a lot more than the same person you give £50. It's comparing apples with pears. Joey got a lot of backing because he's high profile but hasn't backed it up enough for me.

I don’t have a clue what kind of draw we are anymore tbh, but time will reveal all I’d suggest that we aren’t a big enough draw for a bloke who finished 7th in the champ last year, got sacked whilst 6th in the champ or whose last job was in the prem. Sorry if that sounds condescending but we are miles off of that level of manager I don’t disagree with you and don’t find your comment condescending at all you’re simply listing facts. you may have misunderstood my point tho, I’m simple saying that the changes that have happened at our club have left me without the ability to even guess what we’d have to offer a manager anymore. But time is a great revealer, I’m expecting the next appointment to tell us everything we need to know in terms of the direction the hierarchy not just want, but expect us to go… the waiting game lol

Pro-rata I actually think DC was backed as much if not more in the conference, when you compare it to our oppositions budget that season 👍🏾

The hard thing with the conference is only 2 promotion positions. He was under a lot of pressure, and subsequently took us up again. Loved DC but looks like L1 is his limit.

If the suggested names are the best we can do, then lets keep building with what we have. Mangs and Wheelan may be able to complete what Joey started without the self destruction. Bring in the best Irish league players in Jan with Wheelans pulling power.

No way to Holden. He hasn’t had any success anywhere. He’s a thoroughly nice chap but not a manager for progressing us. Couldn’t give 2 monkey’s about the City link btw!

Bring in the best Irish league players in Jan with Wheelans pulling power. Yeah I think we should give mangan and Whelan 3 games minimum unless they openly say they’re not interested of course. I think what Barton had built is fine , if we just moved the ball quicker I still think we’d be capable of challenging the top 6. Hopefully tomorrow will see us do that, my worry is that Mangan will want us to continue playing the same brand of football which clearly doesn’t work in this division but we’ll see. Looking forward to tomorrow more than I was Pre- sacking anyway. UTG

I think someone who has got out of the division in recent years should be at the top of the objective list.
Someone like Leam Richardson would make sense?
Dean Holden and Steve Cotterill absolutely no 😅
The romance side of it (Holloway) been out of the game too long

Holden or Cotteril will not be popular choices amongst the paying fan base. I still would like (will not happen) Phil Bater and Gary Penrice.......please don't laugh
