I think most people believed/agreed we signed a very good squad this season, and if we had not missed out due to a poor administrative error could have had an incredible squad 👍🏾

I’m so excited now, proper root and branch reviewing of the scouting department. You mention Oxford, they have a fantastic scout working in Ireland, Mark Sykes and Gavin Whyte signed from the island and sold for millions. Jennings and his pension pot signings, you’ve only got to look at Spendlove’s CV to tell you it’s a job for the Scouse mafia again. Gone are the says of Penrice signing Jason Roberts from Wolves reserves and a tip off from someone he knew about Ellington playing for Walton and Hersham. What Oxford did over the summer was incredible and Manning only in to the club in the March. But they already had scouting network in place not in anyway aligned to the manager, something our new owners commented on Saturday. I am really excited for the future in this area, if Jennings is to stay on but there has to be some accountability…………..Pitman, Leon Clarke, Rossiter, Trev Clarke, Mark Hughes, Junior Brown. Always though Trevor Clarke was treated badly, a bit of a scapegoat - put under the bus twice. And me Tilly but I get accused of knifing the previous manager in the back, appalling treatment, if his confidence is ruined I’d understand and any future employer was told he is not clever enough th understand the game!

Have been thinking about this too. A risk if we appoint a "journeyman" manager that we cant attract the same calibre - especially of loans. But, look around L1 and L2, lots of really good talent on loan (Louie Barrie at Stockport for example) for teams that dont have JB! Money talks, maybe we have just been willing/able to pay more for loans as well as new signings? Also, Barton signed, what, 50 odd players? At least half were less then a success! Lets not panic yet You hate Joey but you expect mangers like "Eustace" who you have been touting, to be a able to sign players on loan like Elliot Anderson, who was the player that was instrumental in getting not "we" but Bristol Rovers promoted. Joey has put together a squad capable of getting BRFC promoted to the Championship, he has all the right connections in the game. Rover now need somebody who can keep control and gain respect of the changing room if promotion is to happen this season; imo until the end of the season, at least, the new owners could do a lot worse than appoint Andy Mangan.

Billy Elliott was two seasons ago. Can argue none of the current loanees are anywhere near his quality. Not sure any of this season players will be featuring in prem next season. Why is best squad ever so low in the league? The argument cannot be injuries as this is best squad not best eleven.

Not sure why such an argumentitive tone (apologies if misreading). I dont hate Joey, I am not "touting" Eustace but think he could be decent and ive said at least 4 or 5 times I'd like Mangan and Wheelan to be given a go. All good.

He's an uber Bartonista and is still taking his frustration out on all and sundry.

Oxford have recruited exceptionally well and I don't see them as being massively ahead of us - we appear to be able to compete budget wise. So I don't think it's a case of "Barton gone, now we'll only attract dross". I’m so excited now, proper root and branch reviewing of the scouting department. Could it be argued that the failure by BRFC to sign JCH put in place a situation where it would become easier to replace the manager.
It also allows JB to point at the clubs failure in compketing the deal as for the reason results were not better.

Although I genuinely think it was just a balls up rather than any nefarious plan .

Either way, I don't think it was part of some elaborate plan to screw over JB and/or JCH and/or Posh.

Vale said in last week's interview JB convinced him to sign? Young loan players are looking for moves which will further their careers not looking for who pays them the most money I assume experienced players are looking at money, location and what the club can offer them generally. Do you think he would have said "I came to Rovers as they offered me the most money"? When have you ever heard a player be honest like that? I doubt Vale's getting anything from Rovers, when he'll already be on a decent contract at Chelsea. I assume you haven't listened to the interview before commenting?

The top clubs want to loan their young players to clubs who try to play a possession based passing style similar to the Prem - which is what JB was trying to do. Training facilities are important too. That was always the concern, was JB playing a style which suited the Premiership loan players, rather than a style which would lead to us winning games? Mangan appears to have already gone for a more direct style of play.

I spoke to a Championship player who was looking for a new club and although he liked Rovers he didn't fancy the prospect of being managed by JB. Having said that, JB didn't seem to have any of issues attracting the players he wanted.
